I have a very formal holiday dinnerware set that I bought a few years back. I love it, but it feels too stiff for a Christmas morning breakfast or late night holiday cookie and hot chocolate affair. I wasn’t really looking for new dishes, but when Oneida shared their new holiday line I fell in love with their Snowmates line in cream.
Winter Whimsy. This pattern features friendly fellows that will bring whimsy to your holiday décor. Roly-poly snowmen all bundled up with their buddies are the stars of this playful collection. Perfect to use the whole winter through or to give as a hostess gift at the holidays, this pattern will warm the hearts of all who use it.
The Snowmates line is a set of three coordinating patterns that can mixed and matched. I love that! The designs are timeless so I’m not worried about growing tired of a more trendy look. Who doesn’t have items in the Christmas stash they can’t throw away because they spent money on them, but they no long fit their lifestyle – I do!
I chose the cream because the snowman is whimsical without being juvenile and I felt it had the most styling options. I can pair it with a red and white polka dot table cloth or a fab red & green plaid for a bright and fun table. Or I can use a cream tablecloth with just touches of red and green for a winter wonderland look. I also love the unique shape of the plates. They lend themselves beautifully to being accented with small round plates and serving pieces.
This is a very heavy-weight set and the bowls are huge. They’re really serving size big, but that’s part of the fun. It’s oversize and exaggerated, you’ll just have to refrain to filling them full if you’re watching your calories. The pieces are micro-wave and dishwasher safe, and with minimal care, they should last for years.
There are many other pieces in the sets available individually. If you’re a holiday baker and looking for the perfect platter to give your cookies away on, check out their line of round and square plates. They’re on sale right now for almost 50% off! In fact, the sets are on sale as well, so I may have to pick up another. There are also serving pieces which marry all three of the colors and snowmen designs on one piece.
Marge, our resident quilter, will be working on a tablecloth and/or runner, napkins and more to coordinate with this set. We’ll post photos and instructions as soon as she’s finished. The thought of having a holiday teddy bear Christmas party with future grand kids with these plates on a tablecloth from my mom just sounds fabulous!
