MOANA: Disney Casts 14-Year Native Hawaiian in Lead Role

Walt Disney Animation Studios has cast native Hawaiian, Auli’i Cravalho, 14, in the lead role in “MOANA.” This talented teen was chosen from hundreds of gifted actors who auditioned for the role opposite Dwayne Johnson. She has enjoyed singing and dancing since she was a small child, but this high school sophomore never imagined she’d be cast in a Disney movie.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a fantastic new collection of their best short films. Included in the collection are award-winning and beloved films like “Lorenzo,” which was nominated for Best Animated Short in 2004. It also includes contemporary favorites like Disney’s “Frozen Fever,” which stars Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Olaf, and Sven. Plus Oscar winners “Feast” from 2014 and “Paperman” from 2012.

GIGANTIC: Disney Reveals Jack-in-the-Bean Stalk Inspired Film

John Lasseter, Disney’s Animation’s Chief Creative Officer, announced on behalf of Walt Disney Animation studios that they were creating the definitive version of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Titled GIGANTIC, it is directed by Nathan Greno (Tangled) and produce by Dorothy McKim (Prep & Landing) and will feature music from Rober Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the Oscar-winning songwriters from FROZEN.
