On our recent trip to Carmel we dined at mundaka, a Spanish style tapas restaurant. The interior is suitably dark for a romantic dinner for two, with color changing lights along the walls and tables large enough to share several tapas at once. The light fixtures are beautiful, reminiscent of stained glass.

The production of wine and olive oil really seems to be what Nick Elliott and Hunter Lowder love to talk about. The ranch was purchased by Hunter’s parents, in 2006 to fulfill their dream of owning and operating a family vineyard and olive grove. Of the 400 acre ranch only 19 acres is set aside for wine making – they are all about high quality over quantity.

Holman Ranch’s slogan is “Where the past is always present,” and I think that perfectly encapsulates the feeling you get when visiting the ranch. The ranch is situated on 400 acres at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountains on California’s Monterey peninsula near the beautiful town of Carmel. The property features rolling, windswept hills, meadows and groves of trees; it is truly a gorgeous sight.
