The Moeraki Boulders are one of nature’s true wonders. The spherical rocks are up to 10 feet wide and weigh several tons each and have a mythical air about them. It’s easy to see why they’ve been described as alien eggs, prehistoric turtle eggs, and a giant’s marbles.

I just got back from exploring the French Rivera and Provence. We spent 12 days exploring the area from one tiny town to the next. The weather in October is stunning and many locals as well as visitors were enjoying the beaches.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a small, fun, and quirky town with lots of great activities for people of all interests. With a population of just around 4,000 people, it was originally established as a Spanish mission in the late 18th century, and more recently bolstered by artists fleeing San Francisco after the great earthquake of 1906. It has been home to many artists and art galleries ever since.

During our recent trip to Carmel, we sampled the Carmel Wine Walk By-The-Sea Passports which are offered by the Chamber of Commerce. These affordable passports provided a wine tasting at nine different Carmel tasting rooms all within walking distance of each other and our accommodations, the Hofsas House Hotel.

I recently had the chance to visit Carmel, California and while there, I was fortunate to experience the European influenced inn called Hofsas House Hotel. Located just four blocks from most of the wineries and eateries in town, the Hofsas House Hotel it is in an excellent location for experiencing this beautiful city.

During our recent stay in Carmel, California, we took a trip to the nearby city of Pacific Grove. While there we had to opportunity to dine at Fandango Restaurant, a Mediterranean-inspired French restaurant. It easily made our list of top restaurants in/near Carmel with the first bite.
