Seattle was one of three cities that we visited by a delegation made up of 13 companies and five American tour operators to why it’s time for US travelers to not just visit, but to “Jump into Ireland.”
One of the highlights of this hour-long presentation was the new Aer Lingus flights from Seattle which started May 18, 2018. This new Seattle to Dublin flight gives international travelers more choices in how and when they travel and opens up seamless connections to the UK and other European cities.
This new route will operate four times a week and offer both business and economy class. Round trips start at $259 each way including taxes and charges.
What Ireland Has to Offer – Discover Activities, Attractions, Accommodations, and More
Not sure what Ireland has to offer? The Jump into Ireland website has a wealth of information including places to visit.
Dublin: a breath of fresh air
Plan your visit by checking out Dublin’s nine top attractions. Highlights include the #1 suggestion, a visit to the Guinness Storehouse where the popular brew’s confident creator took out a 9,000-year lease on the brewery for an annual rent of just $45 back in 1759. I’d say that was investment was well made. We visited in 2008 and sampled many pints, both here and elsewhere around town.
While the Jameson Distillery Bow St. Tour in Dublin didn’t make the list, it was part of our 2008 itinerary and one that we enjoyed immensely. You don’t have to be a whiskey lover to appreciate the history and beauty of the place, but of course, if you are, a tasting is included.
But lest you think that drinking your way through Dublin is the only form of entertainment in the area. There are plenty of free museums, parks, and restaurants to enjoy. You can also check out your roots by visiting EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. It documents the more than 10 million people who’ve emigrated from Ireland.
Or enjoy some time at the Dublin Zoo which is located in the heart of Dublin city in the beautiful Phoenix Park. This family-friendly attraction is home to more than 400 animals. Beyond just visiting with the animals, the zoo offers daily talks, feeding sessions, and conservation information.
Additional detailed tourist information is available for Belfast: Titanic City, Ireland’s Ancient East, Explore Northern Ireland, Wild Atlantic Way, Derry~Londonderry City and so many more places. Not sure where you want to start? EXPLORE MORE IRELAND is a great place to find out all that this country has to offer.
