Free Unicorn Pumpkin Yarn Craft Project

This is one pumpkin that can be displayed long after Halloween because there’s nothing scary about it! Use the same yarn as the project above, or the colors as shown in the sample. Can’t find a faux pumpkin? Choose a different shape! Customize this unicorn craft for any occasion by making some simple changes (see some of our suggestions below).

This project would be fun for a tween or teen to do because it only requires the use of scissors and a low melt glue gun (or you could use a bonding glue instead if your child isn’t ready for even a low temp glue gun).

Can’t find or don’t want a pumpkin base? Try one of these:

A 6″ styrofoam ball. Cover it with glue and glitter instead of painting it and use toothpicks and hot or white glue to hold the additional pieces to the styrofoam ball. Cut the face details out of black cardstock.
A 6″ smooth styrofoam ball. This one can be painted and used in the same way as the pumpkin
A 6″ moss ball. Use toothpicks and hot or white glue to hold the other items in place. Cut the face details out of gray or black cardstock. Switch to a softer palette of pale pinks and grays by using Red Heart Soft Essentials Stripes Yarn in Pixie Stripe and create the horn out of Silver Brushstroke Foil Paper by Recollections for a more glamorous look. Prefer something softer? Go natural and make the hair from Natural Raffia. Lightly color it with watercolor paints or watered down food coloring for just a pale tint in several colors.
