This new Enchanted Forest Creatures crochet pattern book is from Leisure Arts and was released in July 2016.  It’s a collection of sweet and lovable easy-to-crochet woodland animals (Fawn, Fox, Rabbit, Great Horned Owl, and Baby Owl) and their forest friends (Fairy, Gnome, and Gnomette). Created by Jessica Boyer, medium weight yarn with the exception for the Gnome’s beard which is done in bulky. If you don’t have bulky yarn, two to three strands of medium weight worked together is a great substitute.

There are step-by-step instructions with close-up photos to show the face and body details. These are some of the most realistic-looking animals I’ve seen in quite awhile. The bodies have wonderful details so they look great from every angle.

Each pattern has been marked by the designer so you’ll know if it’s suitable for a beginner or more experience is needed. There is also a yarn chart that explains the differences in weight, a gauge measurement if it’s required for the piece you’ve chosen, and a chart of common crochet symbols and terms which will make reading the pattern easier.

The book includes general instructions or all of the crocheted amigurumi pieces plus basic stitch instruction. Plus every pattern includes a shopping list of the necessary yarn, crochet hook, and additional supplies you’ll need to have on hand. This includes safety eyes, fiberfill, and a yarn needle to complete each piece. Also included are detailed instructions on how to sew together the individual body parts you crochet plus when to stuff them and where to sew them together.

Want to make these creatures larger? Use a bigger hook and weightier yarn. Use bulky yarn and a K or N hook. Or use 2-3 strands of medium weight. You’re not limited to the size presented. Go with a smaller hook and sports weight yarn to make them smaller.

All that’s missing from this sweet group of woodland friends are some toadstools!

I own this kit and I love it! These are tiny little amigurumi and yarn, polyfill, crochet hooks, etc, are included to make a few of them (sorry, I can’t remember which ones, but I HATE the yarn that comes with it so I used my own).
