Essential oils are often used as a room freshener, but they have so many additional uses and beneficial properties for your health, both physical and mental. There are many different essential oils available, and they all have different purposes. But why you should be using essential oils daily? Because they can help prevent illness and help calm you after a stressful day.
Boosting Your Immune System
Many essential oils have properties that help boost your immune system. That’s important this time of year as we head into the cold and flu season. A few oils that help with the immune system are lavender, chamomile, myrrh, oregano, and sage. Some can be ingested every day by adding a few drops into your morning tea or glass of water before you start the day. Others CANNOT be ingested and need to be used in another application such as aromatherapy, massage, etc. Make sure you research essential oils before purchase to ensure that it fits your needs and that it’s a pure as possible. I buy organic essential oils. I’ll pay more for an established brand that I can trust. There are too many oils being sold direct to customer from China companies that have no over site as to the safety and purity of their ingredients.
Stress and Anxiety Relief
We all experience stressful days, and many suffer from anxiety. There seems to always be something that triggers the response – upcoming events, holidays, new situations, etc. Using essential oils as part of your stress-busting regime is a natural way to lower your anxiety. Specific essential oils can aid in relief from stress and anxiety including lavender, rose, and frankincense. Use them daily are to ward off stress instead of pulling them out after you’re already out of control. Try a necklace, car, or room diffuser for longer lasting scent then lay back, relax and let the aroma calm you down. Or add a few drops to your bath/shower just before going to bed. You can also fill a basin with warm water and add 10-15 drops of your favorite calming scent and soak away your troubles.
Continue your treatment by creating an easy linen or room spray, or put a few drops on your scarf, shirt, etc. (wear it like a perfume, they do smell AMAZING!) this way you’ll have it with you all day to keep you calm. Make sure you mix your oils with a little carrier oil before applying them to your skin. Full-strength essential oils can cause skin irritation. Carrier oils include almond oil, olive oil, and many more.
These are just a few of the reasons why you should be using essential oils daily. They have so many beneficial properties, and they’re a natural alternative to medicines and medications that aren’t always guaranteed to work and which may have disagreeable side effects. Essential oils are the best way to help you out day in and day out, whether it be for keeping your immune system in balance or to help you reduce stress.
