Florida is so much more than its behemoth theme parks, and Gulf County is one of its best assets. If you’ve never explored beyond Orlando, consider adding the GCFL to your list of must see vacation spots this year – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Made up of 43 miles of incredible coastline along Florida’s panhandle, Gulf County is a destination in its own right. It’s here that you’ll find plenty of adventures including camping, fishing, hiking, snorkeling, and more. They’ve worked hard to balance the preservation of nature, their cultural identity, and easy adventures to make the Florida Gulf Coast a place you can experience time and again and never have the same adventure twice.
Outside adventures are encouraged, and opportunities are shared via the GCFL Adventure Guide, which is produced monthly. It shares the best in what to do, where to stay, what to see, and more. The Guide also dispenses insider tips and stories about the area and its people. You can also get information via the VisitGulf.com website. Check out upcoming events and Florida travel tips. Then explore destinations including Port St. Joe, Indian Pass, Cape San Blas, St. Joe Beach, Wewahitchka, and St. Joseph Bay. You’ll discover the best place to birdwatch, go scalloping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and great trails for hiking and biking. Also, find out where to charter a boat, go golfing, find live music and great food, and the best place to catch a memorable sunset or sunrise.
Looking for something more adventurous? Try snorkeling, diving, paddleboarding, or eco-touring. All of these adventures are just 15 minutes away no matter where you are in the area; that’s what makes the GCFL so unique. You can visit the Gulf of Mexico, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Apalachicola Bay, Dead Lakes, and Chipola River easily. With such a fantastic mix of fresh and salt water, you choose your adventure!

Oddly enough I have traveled internationally but there are a few spot in the US I have not yet visited, and Florida is one of them! I’m not sure what I’d do first to be honest! One of my favorite things to arrange when I travel is horseback riding along the beach!

It’s been a while since we have been to Florida. Oh, how I could use that sunshine right now! The first thing I would do is dig my toes into the sandy beach.

We adore the theme parks in Florida, but we are also a very outdoorsy family. I would love to explore more of Florida and see what Gulf County has to offer.

The answer is: The Cape San Blas Lighthouse. We went camping last weekend and saw it on our drive on the way to the State Park. The next time we visit the first thing I’ll do is head for the Beach.
