Winter is rough on our bodies. Every exposed body part takes a hit from the cold, and there are just not enough hours in the day to winterize every part of your body. But, your lips are part of what people identify you by, and you don’t want to become known as “that girl with the really chapped lips.” So there are a few things you can do to keep your lips soft, moist, and looking great with the added benefit of not dealing with the pain of dry lips. Adding a few minutes each week to exfoliate and moisturize your lips will do wonders for how they look and feel.
STOP BAD HABITS & USING DRYING PRODUCTS: The first step to better lips is to stop the activities you’re doing that are adding to your problems. Chewing off your dry skin can lead to bleeding and sores so stop that! Slow down on the lip licking as well, it too can result in problems. So can using lip products that contain drying chemicals like preservatives that irritate your delicate lip area. And stop touching your lips – you’re introducing bacteria into that broken skin – that’s a recipe for an infection!
EXFOLIATE: Use a gentle exfoliant likeBurt’s Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Sugar Scrubto lift off dead skin. It uses exfoliating crystals mixed with Pomegranate Oil, Cranberry Seed, and Shea Butter to polish and condition your lips and body. Use it in the shower applying a teaspoon or so and gently scrub your lips. Let it remain in place for 5 minutes while you enjoy the scent and moisturizing effects. Rinse it off and wipe dry with a towel. Should you accidently get a taste of it, you’ll find it’s yummy.
CONDITION: Use Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter every morning and before bedtime. It provides up to four hours of ultra-hydrating conditioning and moisturizing with no fragrances or flavors. It’s formulated with Kokum, Shea and Cocoa Butters that melt on your lips leaving them feel softer and more supple.
PROTECT & COLOR! Now that your lips are in fabulous condition, make them shine! These three options from Burt’s Bees color and protect your lips – choose the coverage you like! TINT: My go-to is Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm, which is available in 6 colors (mine color is Rose). It protects your lips from the environment with Shea Butter and Botanical Waxes plus its sheer coverage gives me just the right amount of color. It goes on easy and looks great.SHIMMER: Want a little more shine? Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer is the one for you. Lots of color and shine. You’ll need a mirror for a perfect application and it’s a bit stickier, but you’re rewarded with long wearing color and softness. Shea Butter and antioxidant-rich Fruit Oils moisturize while its peppermint flavor smells and tastes great. Available in 14 shades. My color is Fig. SATIN: New Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipsticks are available in 14 full-coverage colors from pale pink Iced Iris to intense Juniper Water in a skin-flattering and age-defying satin finish. This 8-hour, moisturizing lipstick is made with 100% natural ingredients like Moringa Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E that work together to create a creamy and lightweight lipstick. The Moringa Oil’s essential fatty acids help to soften and condition your lips while the Raspberry Seed Oil improves your lip’s elasticity. Even the packaging is recyclable, so it’s better for the environment! My color is Sunset Cruise.
Now that I’ve tried this new Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipstick it’s my new favorite! The satin finish is exactly what this ahem…older women needs. It’s flattering and adds color that’s perfect for day or nighttime and from casual to elegant. Rush out and pick up this new 8 hour Natural Lipstick – I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do and it’s available in a wide variety of colors for every skin tone and occasion, plus it retails for a very reasonable $9.99!
Why do I recommend Burt’s Bees lip products? That’s an easy question! It’s because they’re made from a short list of ingredients that I can identify. Plus they’re readily available in supermarkets, drugstores, online, and the new 8 Hour lipstick is available at Target and Target.com. Plus they’re so affordable and made from ingredients my skin loves. Have you tried the new Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipstick

I have been loving burts bees tinted options. They are great for chapped lips when you want a bit of color with moisturizer! I never thought about picking them up at Target. So good to know!
Our 5 year old son also battles chapped lips.
I’m always reminding him to drink more water.
It’s harder to get him to stop and apply something moisturizing to his lips.
Burt Bee’s always has such a high quality product. I’d love to try the lip balms I haven’t yet.
I just love Burt’s Bees, but I haven’t tried the lip products yet. I’m so excited!
I love Burt’s Bees products. Most ‘chapstick’s feel waxy but I think these feel natural. My whole family uses them.

I didn’t know Burts had tinted. I buy his stuff all the time, so grabbing a little something with color would be an easy switch for me.
Mu lips get so dry in the winter! I need to try these Burt’s Bees products to see if they will sooth them some.
These are great tips. I should remember to exfoliate and I have to try some more Burt’s Bees products.
