Disney announced that STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has become the highest grossing film of all time in the US market having earned $758.2 million. In doing so, it’s surpassed the staggering $760.5M lifetime gross earned by Avatar. They shattered that record in just 20 days! Also, the film has made more than 800 million internationally.

The film has also won the honor of biggest all-time debut, biggest December debut, and the biggest overall moviegoing weekend of all time. It’s gone on to shatter the biggest Christmas and New Year’s day movies and highest per-theater average.
But there’s no end in sight to the film’s growth as it releases in China on January 9 which should increase the international coffers by millions. The film has been embraced worldwide, and children are falling in love with the characters and the story.
