Matching Family Pajamas: A Holiday Tradition
New pajamas on Christmas Eve has been a tradition in our family since I was a small child in the 1960s. It was the only gift we were allowed to open, and even though we knew new PJs would be inside, we still ripped into those packages with glee. When we had our family, we continued the tradition and somewhere in my huge stack of photos waiting for me to scan are many pictures of the boys wearing their traditional matching Christmas pajamas.
Back then, the only matching PJs were those made by dedicated moms or grandmas. Now you can find a huge selection of them on Sleepyheads.com. They have sets that can outfit the whole family including grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, teens, tweens, kids, toddlers, and infants. Some even have matching items for your pets and 18″ dolls (American Girl Doll size).
Patterns range from traditional Christmas plaids to bring and cheery lime green and pink. Many are available in coordinating sleepwear sets of flannel or knit, so there’s a style to make everyone in the family comfortable.
We received a set of Frozen Pajamas by Sleepytime PJs (sorry, this set is no longer available), which my son, his wife, and my granddaughter (due March 2016) are modeling. They’re well-made, soft, and comfortable and fit like a dream. Plus they’re adorable!
Spring & Summer Coordinating Pajamas for the Whole Family
Matching jammies are not just for the holidays – Mommy & Me and Daddy & Me pajama sleep sets are fun all year round, and they make great gifts! Here are some of the other Mommy & Me, Daddy & Me, and Matching Family sleepwear sets available at Sleepyhead.com, though they have plenty of other robes, nightgowns, and sleepwear too!
Do you have a similar Christmas tradition? I’d love to hear about it!
Hello! I stumbled upon this post with pictures of your son, his wife and your due soon granddaughter in matching pjs when I used google images to search “family picture in matching pajamas with pets” and I love it! I am a new mom of a 10 month old and we all got matching pjs on Christmas Eve 🙂 AND I am working on writing a children’s book and would love if I could turn the first picture (the one with the caption-matching family pajamas – a holiday tradition) into a painting for one of the illustrations. It might not be exact but this would be the inspiration. Let me know what you think and thanks! 🙂
I’ll be starting this tradition this year! My son is now 3 so we can do this one!
Oh, I love that age! He’ll get such a kick out of it!
Matching PJs are the best! My kids love theirs and keep trying to get Mamma and Dad to get a pair too.
Mamma and Dad should! It will make their holiday!
I’ve always loved the idea of matching PJs. These are really cute for mom, dad, the kids and even the family dog to all wear this winter.
Such a cute idea. I don’t know if my kids would be happy about matching PJ’s but I love it.
This is a great idea for a Christmas eve gift for the family to open. I always give the kids new pajamas to wear for the Holidays.
Matching family pajamas is such a cute idea. I got the kids onsies last year. I will have to look at getting us matching ones this year.
I love the idea of these matching PJs. So adorable and make the cutest photos. Back in the day my kids would have loved these. But I would!
Matching PJs are so much fun! That cute snowflake pattern is adorable. I love that even the pups got to join in!
I have never gotten matching jamies before. This would be fun.
How adorable! I like that everyone in the family, including the dogs, have matching pajamas! This sounds like a fun holiday tradition.
We’ve never done matching pajamas. But this is such a great idea I really like this idea. I want to do this with all of my kiddos and my hubby, and even include our animals how fun!
Next year there will be some grandma & me pj’s purchased! My granddaughter is due in March!
Oh this is funny! I LOVE it! All matching Pj’s including the dogs! I am SOOO doing this! Its fun!
I love this tradition even though we haven’t done it. It would make a great family photo to send out in Christmas cards the following year.
Matching PJs sounds like a great idea! Especially since we have three dogs. I think my husband and I need to do this.
