I experienced the Monterey Mirror Maze as part of a Cannery Row Familiarization trip; however, all opinions are my own.
Monterey Mirror Maze
The Monterey Mirror Maze is the place to go if you love an adventure, like to embrace your silly side, and love a good challenge. With their perfectly symmetrical mirrors, Monterey Maze allows you to see infinite reflections of yourself in every direction.
Think you’re up to the twists, turns and dead ends that make up this colorful, challenging maze? I thought I was too, but it wasn’t long before I realized that the only way to find my way out was to feel my way along the mirrors. It’s definately a heady trip with the pounding music, color changing lights, and optional prism glasses (I highly recommend them). They all add to the experience and keep you a little off center, making it all the more fun.
I laughed my way through and enjoyed every minute and would have loved to have time to do a second trip through to see if I could better my time. I had been a little nervous before hand and worried that it would be claustrophobic. While it wasn’t for me, it can be frightening for younger children. Just after I completed the maze, two girls about 10 set off to experience it on their own. It wasn’t long before the very alert Maze attendant heard their distressed pounding on the mirrors and went in to retrieve them. It’s definitely something to talk about with the kids before sending them in, or better yet, go with them. It’ll be a fun memory for you all!
Along with the Mirror Maze is “Break the Vault,” a laser challenge where you a have the chance to do your best Catherine Zeta Jones cat burglar impression. You’ll need to twist and turn, duck and dive, and figure out a way to get to the other end of the vault without breaking the beams. You do this in a blacked out room while everyone else watches from outside on a TV monitor. It’s a fun game that requires speed, accuracy, and cat-like moves.
The Monterey Mirror Maze is said to amaze, invite, entice, confuse and even render its visitors utterly lost making the trip is well worth. Don’t hesitate, head on in for a unique and one of a kind mirror maze that will have you returning time and time again.
Highway 1 Mini Golf
Think the fun stops with the maze? Think again! Monterey Mirror Maze has added an all new attraction to their lineup: Highway 1 Mini Golf. This experience is another one-of-a-kind activity that you and your family won’t want to miss out on. It’s 3-D and glow in the dark and filled with nods to the area as well as its proximity to Hollywood. It’s guaranteed to keep your family entertained throughout all five interactive obstacles!
The Monterey Mirror Maze also has a themed snack bar (this fabulous staff member’s mother is a blogger from Georgia!), as well as fun token-operated games and amusements.
The Monterey Mirror Maze is located on Cannery Row, very near the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Make time in your itinerary to check out the Mirror Maze. I think you’ll find it a unique experience!
