The Bubula Steel Diaper Pail
We haven’t had a baby in the house for over 25 years, so why would we need a diaper pail? Because diapers aren’t the only household garbage that’s stinky and would benefit from the features, a Bubula Steel Diaper Pail offers. In our home, our odorous waste is created by puppy potty pads. We use them on our senior dog’s bed to catch her “accidents”.
We go through so many potty pads in a day that a few months ago I shopped for a covered garbage can that could contain them. I purchased several on Amazon.com, but when they arrived, I discovered their lids were not sealed, so they allowed the smell to leak. I returned them and finally settled on a low-cost plastic can I bought at Target that had a pop-up lid. I liked that I could open it with one hand because I’m always carrying my dog or her bed at the same time. This cheap alternative worked better than most, but it wasn’t long before the spring fell off, and the lid no longer popped up. Worse, when I opened the lid to add a new pad, the stench it released was overwhelming.
The result was that we had to dump the pail daily which meant we were using a lot of garbage bags. I considered buying one of those diaper pails that uses specialty bags that are twisted after each diaper is deposited in an effort to help keep the stench at bay. But the cost was prohibitive, and I’ve smelled them at the home of my niece – they don’t work at trapping the ammonia smell of wet diapers. But when the Bubbula became available, I knew it was the perfect answer for us.
What’s Different about the Bubula Steel Diaper Pail
What’s different about the Bubbula is that it’s almost entirely from steel and aluminum, so it’s durable, and odor resistant. The pail uses any standard tall garbage bag (10-13 gallon), so there are no expensive specialty bags to buy. Plus, it seals the smell inside by using a 2-part disposal system.
Just press lightly on the top of the can to pop open the cover to the disposal chamber. The folded potty pad (or diaper) is placed inside, then by pressing on the large lever on the back of the can, the bottom of the chamber is opened, and the diaper drops into the bag inside. That means the dirty, smelly pad goes into the garbage bag without letting out any of the stinks from the older ones. Plus since the size of the can is so large (27.4 x 14.3 x 14.3 inches), a week’s worth of dirty pads can be disposed of quickly and easily.
The can is well designed and has a safety lock to prevent curious little fingers and so that it stays sealed in the event it gets knocked over. It could also be used for dirty cat litter though the top would have to be cleaned when the garbage bag is removed. Still, that’s a small price to pay to have stinky litter sealed and ready for the trash. Or for any area of the house that needs a secure garbage can that’s safe from dogs.
The Bubula Steel Diaper Pail is pricey, but you’ll save by not having to buy specialty bags, and it’s a can that will last a lifetime. It’s available in several colors including purple, sage, pink, white and silver, white, and blue. The Bubula Diaper Pail is available at diapers.com, amazon.com, Babies “R” Us, buybuy baby, and giggle.
What stinky garbage do you have that would benefit from a Bubula Steel Diaper Pail?
That’s a cool idea, I’d never though of using one for a pet. We use old store plastic bags to wrap stinky diapers with, this would be a lot more convenient though.
This works fantastically! It was FULL and my very good nose didn’t even suspect it.
I never thought of using a diaper pail for anything other than diapers. This is a fantastic idea. I have friends with little dogs that use the pee pads that could use this.
This is a great idea to use the pail for cat litter. I have two cats and the litter can get stinky in the garbage.
oh this is super cool! i love the photos! very nice.

Well that’s a great idea! Beats having the house stink or constantly taking out small bags of trash!
ooh i love how you can use a regular garbage bag for this diaper pail. We have 2 in diapers so this would be super helpful to have.
This is very handy. I like that it catches odors and is resistant. The one i had was not
I always wanted one of these when my kids were in diapers. I never thought of using them for anything else though.
What a great idea! I never thought of using a steel pail for something like this! How creative!
I really enjoy our steel pail. Ours was used for diapers and I really appreciated not having to buy special inserts…. the steel did a great job of containing odors. We don’t have inside dogs, but if we needed puppy pads, this would be a great way to go.
I love how you showed the alternative use for this (versus just diapers). They really are great for any smelly bodily fluids!
Wow that would be such a life saver. It must be so nice not having to smell those more often than you need to!
I love the idea of not having to buy specialty bags for it. I remember spending an arm and leg on replacement bags for my old system. Thanks for the info.
I’ve loved being a mom and being a “mom” of furbabies is even more fun. Since I have a service dog, I’m always looking for duel purpose items. I use big diaper bags for him when we travel, and we use crib mattresses for dog beds. They are great because they are large and can be easily cleaned. I just rotate sheets, and wipe down the mattress surface each week.
We have two adult cats who potty quite a bit and their box needs scooped a few times per day. This diaper pail would be a big help! http://www.bellasavvy.net
There is nothing worse then the smell of diapers!! This sounds like an amazing diaper pail.
Dont miss those days, or the days of baby diapers. Great idea for the potty pads if you use a lot.
That looks like a very nice diaper pail. I had one when my kids were younger and they worked nice. This one looks like it would work even better. I love how simple it looks to use too!
I’ve been looking at it. Trying to figure out some ways to ease cleanup!
I have a friend that this would be perfect for! He has an older dog that has to use potty pads, and he always complains about the smell.
I have never heard of a diaper pail in Stainless Steel before. I like that – no rusting! I need this for my new baby due in November.
That sounds really nice. It’s perfect for new parents 🙂
