I received an Air Angel to facilitate this new travel products overview; all opinions are my own.

New Travel Products 2015: Air Angel™ Portable Purifier & Sanitizer ad

I believe in putting good things into my body including the food I eat, the products I put on my hair and skin, and the quality of the vitamins I take. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that I prefer my air be purified whenever possible.

I believe in putting good things into my body including the food I eat, the products I put on my hair and skin, and the quality of the vitamins I take. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that I prefer my air be purified whenever possible.

While I’m at home it’s pretty easy to control the air around me, but when I travel, I’m subjected to air that’s recycled, and goodness knows what’s in it, especially in hotel rooms that also include the dander and other um….germs…left over from the last occupant. While I always do a quick wipe down of every surface to avoid transferring that strangers germs to myself, I always thought there must be a more thorough way to sanitize a room.

New Travel Products 2015: Air Angel™  – The Science Behind It

That’s where the Air Oasis Air Angel™ comes in. It’s a new portable air purifier and sanitizer that works using technology that NASA developed initially and that was enhanced by Air Oasis. The tiny air purifier uses Advanced Hydrated Photocatalytic Oxidation (APHCO) to destroy germs. What? You don’t know what that is? Me either! But thankfully the folks at Air Oasis have provided information on how the APHCO technology works to destroy 99% of the germs as they pass through the UV light and how that same technology destroys up to 99% of allergens in the air, along with 99% of odors. Curious? You can read the entire science behind the process on the Air Oasis web site.

New Travel Products 2015: Air Angel™ Portable Purifier & Sanitizer with organizer travel bag - ad

What I do know is that the Air Angel™ is packaged in a travel bag with everything you need to use it at home or take it on the go. It’s small and lightweight and it said to be able to clean a room up to 250 ft – that’s the size of the baby’s nursery, your bedroom, office, car, hotel room, etc.

The Air Angel™ offers three settings, though I put ours on high and haven’t changed it. There’s little maintenance to this unit, but the AHPC cell needs to be replaced every 12 months (or sooner if you run it on high all the time…hmmmm, I may go turn mine down – the cost is $45). The Air Angel™ makes a small whirring sound, perfect for my husband who can’t sleep without white noise. But I love that this tiny unit that sits on his nightstand replaced the large tower fan that used to blow across me at night forcing me to retreat under the blankets, head and all, to stay warm at night!

New Travel Products 2015: Air Angel™ Portable Purifier & Sanitizer - base and temporary mount - ad

The  Air Angel can rest on its base or use the sticky pad provided to mount it. Be aware though, that those types of mounts can release when exposed to high heat or moisture so make sure you put it somewhere that should it fall, it won’t harm you.

New Travel Products 2015: Air Angel™  – Does it Work?

How can I tell the  Air Angel™ is working? My air smells great even though I have two dogs, one of which is incontinent, so we have the equivalent of a diaper pail that it manages to keep under control. Of course, when you lift the lid you get a massive whiff of ammonia, but the  Air Angel™ goes to work quickly to clear the horrible odor.

I’m traveling this week, and I’m posting a note to remind myself not to forget my  Air Angel™. I’ll be staying in fantastic hotels, but no matter how clean they are, they can’t rid the room of the past occupants germs, but the  Air Angel™ can.
