Transportation and accommodations provided; however, all views are my own.
I’ve been to Monterey, California several times, but I’ve never gotten a chance to put my feet in the sand or enjoy a few minutes exploring on my own. That’s all about to change as I join some of my favorite bloggers as we take a few days to explore Cannery Row and all it has to offer, and I couldn’t be happier. The few minutes I’ve had to there in the past has left me wanting to come back to spend more time in this picturesque area.
We’ll be uncovering all of Cannery Row’s treasures from 6/1 to 6/4 and I’d love it if you’d consider following the hashtag #CanneryRow on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, so you’ll be able to come along with me! I’d especially love your hints and tips on what not to miss if you’ve been here or live in the area. I will likely not visit the Monterey Aquarium this time only because I’ve done it twice before. It’s AMAZING and a must-not-miss stop for most trips, but on this visit I’m going to be focusing on the shopping, food, and things to do outdoors.
Cannery Row: Lodging
We’ll enjoy the Victorian Inn, a Best Western Hotel unlike any I’ve seen before. I can’t wait to explore the room and the grounds, they look fabulous! After
a few nights at the Victorian Inn, we move to the historic boutique hotel, the Monterey Bay Inn. I’ll warn you right now that if my room has a spa tub, I may never get out of it! Both locations are part of the Inns of Monterey.
Cannery Row: Dining
We’ll be dining at Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar which features sustainable seafood and contemporary American cuisine; The Fish Hopper serving locally caught seafood, steaks, and pasta; the Chart House which has been serving seafood with a view for over 50 years; Bubba Gump Shrimp Company the Forrest Gump themed restaurant that specializes in shrimp; and a visit wouldn’t be complete without some sweets from Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream.
Cannery Row: Crafts & Magic
We’ll be doing a bead craft at Bella Beads. I just started beading earlier this year, and I can’t wait to spend some time at the store. Then we head to Zucchini’s Trick n’ Things for a little magic. My kids had so many magic kits when they were growing up; I may just have to get them a little souvenir to remind them how much fun they had playing magician.
Cannery Row: Recreation
We’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors including some time with Adventures by the Sea where the more adventurous bloggers of the group will be kayaking or paddle boating, I’ll thought about joining up with a really fit blogger to take out a surrey and letting her do all the work, but then I saw the electric bikes. Hmm….I think that’s a perfect fit! They also have traditional bikes but let’s face it, bike seats are not comfortable! We’ll also be spending some time inside at the Monterey Mirror Maze & Black Light Mini Golf. What’s a mirror maze? It looks like you’ve climbed inside a kaleidoscope, talk about a psychedelic trip! The black light mini golf will likely send me into flashbacks of the 70’s and the fuzzy black on my walls that came to life with the black light bulb suspended from the ceiling. Groovy!
