Semiahmoo Resort Info
While the Resort is stunning from a distance, it’s up close that she shines. Located just 90-minutes north of Seattle, guests are rewarded with breathtaking views in every direction. Our family recently visited the Semiahmoo Resort & Spa to discover more about this Pacific Northwest icon that’s recently undergone renovations.
Semiahmoo Resort – Restoring This PNW Icon
The resort was a victim of the 2008 recession, but thankfully it’s been rescued and brought back to life. The new owners have worked diligently to restore the resort to her former glory by upgrading the lobby, renovating the spa, improving the swimming pool, adding more dining options, and doing an overall cleaning and upgrading of the entire resort. They’ve also redone the large rooms making them beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming.
The results of their efforts are a resort that feels elegant but is far from stuffy. We felt comfortable from the moment we entered and were sorry to leave. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming, and the service from check-in to check-out was excellent. We were given information on room and resort amenities including Smores on the beach at sunset and hours for the gym, plus how to avoid roaming charges on our cell phones by using their free Wi-fi. We appreciated the information because neither my husband nor I realized that while we were still on US soil, our cell phones were vacationing in Canada.
Semiahmoo Resort & Spa – Pet-Friendly Hotel
Our Waterview King room was located on the first floor with direct access to the lawn and beach area behind the hotel. It’s the perfect location for a couple traveling with their pet though we decided at the last minute to leave our girls at home.
I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room given that it’s pet-friendly because we’ve stayed in many that have been a disappointment. That was certainly not the case here. The room was clean, comfortable, and though the picture doesn’t show it well, it was elegant.
Next time we’ll bring our girls with us. There are miles of beaches and trails to enjoy and plenty of open space to explore. Dogs were welcomed by the staff and it was wonderful to see pet owners vacationing with their furry family members.
Semiahmoo Resort & Spa – Elegant Without Being Stuffy
Our son accompanied us on the trip. He enjoyed a second floor Waterview Balcony King room complete with a small balcony. Having a private outdoor space was a wonderful way to spend some quality time together though there are many marvelous places to meet to chat or read throughout the hotel and the grounds.
The Library in particular and the area outside of it with its tall-backed chairs in front of a large fireplace create an atmosphere that just encourages one to sit and reflect.
But because the weather was spectacular while we were there, we spent much of our time outside in the common areas enjoying the various benches and rocking chairs.
Semiahmoo Resort & Spa – A World Away
I’ll be sharing more about what we did while we were at Semiahmoo over the next few weeks. Though we spent just over 24-hours there, you’ll be amazed at how many fabulous things we were able to experience.
I can’t wait to return to Semiahmoo!
