Limited Edition Soundfreaq –  Novogratz Sound Rise  Flower

Sometimes it’s good when technology takes a step back. That’s just what the limited edition Limited Edition Soundfreaq Sound Rise Flower Freaq has done. They’ve given me back an alarm clock that’s not tied to my smartphone and isn’t dependent on me remembering to charge it. Plus they’ve made it pretty! They’ve partnered with the Novograts, a popular design duo that has added two coordinating spring flower pattern fabric to soften the look of the wood grain case. The fabrics are bright and fun and really add to the charm of the alarm clock. Don’t worry if flowers are not your thing, the Sound Rise is available in other colors and prints.

While the Soundfreaq Sound Rise  brings back all the features of my old radio alarm clock, it also includes the new features that I’ve grown accustom to with my smartphone alarm like  dual alarms that let me choose a maximum alarm volume and the type of alarm – chime, radio, or music with a gradual alarm to wake me gently. There are three different snooze options as a sleep timer that allows me to fall asleep to music or streamed audio like audiobooks or podcasts when paired with my smartphone.

The feature I use most is the nap timer. I just selected my desired resting time, 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120-minutes, and then start snoozing knowing I’ll be woken up at the right time. I can’t tell you how many times I set an alarm on my smartphone for a nap and selected the wrong day or am/pm designation so the alarm didn’t sound at the correct time.

There’s also a blackout feature that darkens the display until I touch a button that my husband loves because hates any light while he’s trying to sleep. But I love that I can have the day and time shown all night long so I can keep track of how often I’m awake. For us, there’s a dim feature that makes us both happy.

The Soundfreaq Sound Rise pairs with a mobile device to give it even more functionality.  I use it while watching HuluPlus and Netflix. It gives me crystal clear sound while watching my favorite shows and movies. When my husband is asleep, I use the 3.5mm standard headphone jack so I can listen without disturbing him.

Plus the Soundfreaq Sound Rise Flower Freaq can charge my smartphone via the USB charger. I just attach my phone’s charging cable to the USB port on the back of the unit, and it charges while I sleep. But for me, the best feature is that it has a built-in FM tuner so I can listen to my favorite radio stations without having to pair my phone, and it will work when the Internet isn’t available.

The Soundfreaq Sound Rise Flower Freaq is worth every little inch it takes up on my nightstand. It gives me back the freedom to have music and an alarm even when my smartphone is lost or dead, two things that happen much too often.
