Icicle Village Resort – Leavenworth, WA
We were recently given the opportunity to stay at the Icicle Inn, a Best Western Plus in Leavenworth, Washington. Leavenworth is a small Bavarian-themed town in a forested valley near Wenatchee, Washington. Leavenworth is about a three-hour drive from Seattle and is the perfect place for a quick, romantic getaway.
Upon arrival we were promptly checked in and given a quick overview of all the amenities the Icicle Inn has at hand: Alpine Spa, outdoor covered/heated pool, fitness center, complimentary breakfast, and much more. The Icicle Inn is also pet-friendly and includes a fun gift bag just for your pet!
Once we located our room on the second floor and opened the door, we were blown away. The Schumann Suite is a generous bedroom, with a separate living room and a huge bathroom with whirlpool tub. The decor evoked a wood cabin, and both the living room and bedroom included working gas fireplaces, which were wonderful to cozy up in front of in the evening. It also has two small balconies that overlooked the surrounding mountains.
Our room had a small kitchenette, with sink, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. We loved making fresh popcorn in our room to munch on the couch while watching TV. Our king sized bed was hands down one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on in a hotel and was covered in high-quality linens as well; we took several naps! At the foot of the bed were two comfy robes, which we hardly ever changed out of for the duration of our stay.
We decided to take a stroll to town, which is only about a ten-minute walk from the Icicle Inn. Taking in all of the fun Bavarian inspired architecture and various shops and eateries is a great experience. Depending on how much you like to shop, you could end up spending hours walking around town.
Whether walking a little or a lot, try to make time to stop at the Icicle Brewery. They brew several tasty beers on premises and sell growlers for you to take back to your room for enjoyment later. You can also opt for the Goomsba Package at the Icicle Inn, which includes a themed growler and a beer fill-up, as well as two fun Leavenworth-themed beer mugs.
After relaxing for a while in our suite, we decided to go for a dip in the pool. Even though the outdoor temperature was only about 50 degrees, the pool is covered in the colder months and is kept fairly warm. We also enjoyed soaking in the Jacuzzi, which was kept nice and hot. There are plenty of extra towels poolside.
At the Junction Activity Center at the hotel, there is a miniature golf course and an outdoor sports court as well as a video arcade, so kids (or adults!) will have plenty to do at the Icicle Inn. Especially for the adults, there is also a wonderful day spa, the Alpine Spa, which offers a multitude of treatment options for most budgets.
Icicle Inn also features a restaurant and bar, JJ Hills Fresh Grill, which has a Northwest-inspired grill menu including favorites like grilled Northwest salmon and beef prime rib, also serving many gluten free and vegetarian options. JJ’s is also where the complimentary breakfast is hosted in the mornings. Breakfast is a generous spread including, eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles, juice, and many other items. We left very full and happy in the morning. Returning to our room, we freshened up and then headed to the Alpine Spa for a facial treatment, which was gentle on the skin and very refreshing.
Unfortunately, we had to head back to reality shortly after our spa treatment! I can honestly say that when anyone asks about where to stay in Leavenworth, I won’t hesitate to suggest they try the Icicle Inn.
