I’d like to say I don’t care about wrinkles, and while that’s true, I do realize that many people look at my outward appearance and make judgments about my health, economic status, and mood. It’s a shame that because I have wrinkles, many people think I’m frowning or made when they’re just well-worn lines created by many years of smiling. Still, while lines and the etched faces of the elderly are revered in many countries, I do hope that someday that cultural acceptance will exist here as well. Until then, I’m making minor changes to help delay the aging process, though I should have started ten years ago before the lines became so deeply ingrained in my skin.

There are many over-the-counter products that claim to help reduce the look of wrinkles and improve skin tone and I’ve just completed a 3-week trial of one of those products. If you watch TV, you’ve likely seen the DermaWand commercials. They tout the ability to take years off your looks by just swiping a device over your skin. They’re before and after photos show some several women experiencing remarkable results, but did I fall into that same category after my experience with the DermaWand?

My DermaWand Experience – Does it Work? Video Review

I created this video to show you how the DermaWand is used, what it’s supposed to do, and more about my results.

DermaWand – Does it Work?

Before I tell you more about my experience, I want to share a little bit more about the device. Here’s the “how” of DermaWand from their website:

DermaWand uses the same technology as the big radio frequency machines that Doctors and Medical Specialists use for treatments to help manage the signs of premature aging. The difference: DermaWand uses lower amplitude that’s perfect for everyday in-home use. Like the big machines, DermaWand provides instant stimulation, thereby providing a massage effect while at the same time delivering thermal energy and enriched oxygen. The results – younger looking skin with only 2 three minute treatments a day. Best of all, you can do it in the comfort of your own home at a fraction of the cost of going to a doctor! – DermaWand

While I have no idea about the science, I do know that reviews online tend to run on the positive side. I read about 50 of them before I agreed to review the product and then probably another 50 after I started using it to make sure that I was using the DermaWand correctly. Instructions were sent with the device, but unfortunately due to a shipping accident they were unreadable. They also sent a DVD, but that was damaged by the liquid spill as well. Luckily one of the reviews I read gave me a link to where the video was posted online so with the details from the review and the instructional video, I was able to work out a plan for my face which would include an overall “cleansing” with the DermaWand followed by spot treatment for my jawline, upper eyelids, and forehead.

DermaWand – How To Use It

Using the DermaWand is simple, and I’ve included a quick overview in the video above as well as my routine, the time it takes to complete, the steps in the process, and my results so far. I do love being able to administer the treatment to myself in just 7-10 minutes twice a day (the manufacturer recommends about 3 minutes, twice a day) until I see the results I want. Once I’m happy with the lifting, toning, and rejuvenation it provides, I can go onto a maintenance schedule which can be done 2-3 times a week, or the interval my face requires.

DermaWand – Does It Only Work on My Face?

What I was surprised to find out is the DermaWand can be used on areas other than my face. It can be used on areas of the hips, thighs, and buttocks with cellulite, the back of the hands, the decollete, and any other areas showing signs of aging.

Thankfully you’re not required to refill the skincare products that come with the kit once you’ve depleted them. You can substitute any great moisturizer or cellulite cream of your own instead. As for the skincare products, I received mine and they seemed to work well. The pre-treatment gel does have a tendency to dry quickly which can cause unwanted stickiness that can cause the DermaWand to drag across the skin. I found that I got great results by simply re-wetting it with a little water to reactivate the gel. You could use a small mister bottle with water or try my cruder method of dipping my fingers under running water and then moistening the areas of my face with them.

DermaWand creator Christina Boves is a licensed aesthetician who understands the rejuvenating power of Radio Frequency Treatments. Radio Frequency is now considered one of the most accepted methods of helping to reverse the visible signs of premature aging. Simple daily DermaWand exercises can brighten your whole face bringing back a youthful appearance. DermaWand is easy to incorporate into a skincare regimen and can even be used over top of makeup for a quick lift before heading out.

The other three products are to be used in succession after using the DermaWand. Unfortunately, one of mine was broken in shipping, so I was unable to try it, but the other two were creamy and provided delightful moisture to my skin. In fact, one was so thick that it wouldn’t pump as it was designed, so the manufacturer may want to look at switching to a standard lotion bottle or squeeze tube. I use mine by pulling out the pump and taking the lotion from the feeder tube.

I did notice that the skincare products that arrive with the DermaWand vary so I can only say the products I received worked well, you may receive something different.

DermaWand – My Results After Three Weeks

I suppose by this point I haven’t been very clear about whether or not the DermaWand works, and that’s because I’m not sure. First let me mention that the before and after pictures are unretouched with the exception of lighting corrections (you get me pimples and all) and that I did get my hair cut and colored within the 3-week trial period which was purely coincidental (I didn’t want roots for Christmas!), and I’m holding my now shorter bangs out of my face in the after photos, though I’m not touching my scalp or pulling my face up in any way.

Also, though I did take the before and after pictures in the same room with the same lighting and tried to relax my face in all of the pictures, I didn’t get exact matches for each pose, though they should be close enough for you to see the difference.

Now, that that’s out of the way, I do enjoy using the DermaWand. I find the massage aspects of it relaxing which may result in a more rested looking face and because I’m using it, it makes me stop twice a day to take 10-minutes out to concentrate on my skin. For those reasons alone, it’s worth it. But I do expect that with more usage and extending my daily usage from 3-minutes twice a day, to 10-minutes twice a day, I will see more improvement. I’ll continue for a few more weeks, and I expect to see the wrinkles in my forehead lesson – that would be my dream.
