I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence-Central for Proacitv+. I received samples of Proactiv+ to facilitate my review and a thank you item for participating.
I had no idea that I’d still be dealing with acne at the same time I was dealing with menopause. Really! You’d think after 40 years of dealing with pimples that Mother Nature would give me a break and let me have my twilight years in peace. But oh no, my face is breaking out like it did when I was a teen.
Over the years I think I’ve tried probably a hundred different products to get rid of my acne. Some made it better, while others were so drying that they caused cracking and peeling which was painful on top of the pimples that were still there.
One product line I haven’t tried is Proactiv so when I was offered the chance to try the Proactiv+ line I was thrilled. I’ve been using using it for the last four weeks to see if it could help tame my skin and today I’m sharing my results.
Proactiv+ Review: Does it Work?
Proactiv has a three step process that’s certainly easy to follow. Step 1 is a Skin Smoothing Exfoliator; step 2 is a Pore Targeting Treatment; and step 3 is a Complexion Perfecting Hydrator. They also included a mask to spot treat tough spots.
But did Proactiv+ work? For me yes and no. I loved the exfoliator and it’s by far the best I’ve used. The skin smoothing granules are tiny and really easy on my skin. There was no burning or pain and I loved the way it destroyed the dead skin on my chin and got rid of flakiness on my cheeks.
The poor targeting treatment seemed to work very well for me also. I’m not sure the photos do it justice (see all of my before/after photos below), but it noticeably shrunk my pores. It takes just a pea size drop to do my nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin so it will last me for some time.
The first time I used the complexion perfecting hydrator my skin drank it in. Evidently it was thirsty! On subsequent applications, I was able to use much less. I also used it on my décolleté area and hands so I could experience its moisturizing effects there as well. The mask worked well when I applied it to specific areas that needed drying. It’s just 10-minutes on and then wash off so it’s easy on the skin.
While I obviously still have acne and it may not look improved, I promise you my skin’s tone and texture is much different. It’s overall more hydrated and feels fabulous. I’m guessing that there isn’t anything topical that can help as my hormones work to adjust themselves for my next stage of life. I guess it’s a bit of a reverse of what I went through back when I became a teen. I’ll continue using the Proactiv and see if I can’t make a little more progress on my pimples. I love the products and the way they make my skin feel.
Proactiv+ Before & After Photos
Yep, these are unretouched and horrible to look at – sorry! “Before” is with glasses and smiling, “After” is without. That was unintentional.
Have you tried Proactiv+? I’d love to hear your experience.
