I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program for Kobo and have been compensation for my time; all opinions are my own.
I was the child that had to be told way too many times every night to turn off my light and go to bed. That’s because I’d be absorbed in a book and didn’t want to stop reading no matter how early I had to get up in the morning. I feel sorry for my parents now, I must have been a horror in the morning to deal with!
As I’ve gotten older eye problems have robbed me of the ability to read books so I switched to audio-books some years ago. That helped my eye issues, but not all books are issued in audio and even some that are have readers that ruin the book for me. Thankfully eReaders have given me back the chance to read traditional books because I can make the font large enough to read easily.
I recently started reading eBooks via an app called Kobo. It’s a free app that allows me to read books on any device I already own – I’ve used it on my Samsung Note 3, my Samsung Tab S, and on my laptop with no issues. It’s an open-source reader which I love, but they also sell their own devices as well as eBooks. In fact, they sell the only dust-proof and waterproof reader I’m aware of on the market. It’s the Kobo H2O which makes reading in the bathtub, at the pool, and near the beach, a little less worrisome. Now that’d make a great holiday gift!
Kobo also features reader recommendations and reviews and suggests books based on what you’ve read and what’s on your “want to read” list. I’m always curious what other people are reading and what fabulous book I might be missing out on. Kobo knows this about people so they put ou a lit of the best selling ebooks for 2014. Check out the list below – how many of them have you read? I’v only read one so I’m working on correcting that! I’ve added “Gone Girl,” “Divergent,” and “The Husband’s Secret” to my Kobo app and I’ll be reading them just as soon as I have a spare minute to myself like when I fly to Detroit in a few weeks – that’s about 6 hours of reading time I’m looking forward too!
The Bestselling eBooks for 2014
- Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn
- The Fault in Our Stars – John Green

Do any of the books on the list surprise you? Any that shouldn’t be there? Your favorite book not on the list? I’m curious what you’re reading!

Thanks for sharing this. It’s my first time hearing of Kobo. I’m definitely looking more into them.
I’ve been hearing great things about Gone Girl. I’m hoping to read it while I’m on vacation. This is a great list. I really needed some help picking some new reads.
i love all of these books! The Fault in Our Stars was incredibly
I’m really wanting to find time to read Goldfinch! I’ve heard it’s excellent
That’s one I think I’ll do on audiobook – but it looks fantastic
I just finished Gone Girl. It was really a great read! I always have to read the books prior to seeing the movies, so I can finally go see this one!
wow that is quite a list! A lot of these books are great prices too!
I am an avid reader….but I honestly have not read any of the books on that list.
There are a lot of books put out every year so it’s easy to find things not on the list. I read a lot of biographies and autobiographies – I guess I’m weird 🙂
None of the books really surprise me. I cannot wait to read Gone Girl. I still have not had the time yet.
What a cool give away, this is perfect for reading fans!
Sadly, I haven’t gotten the chance to read any ebooks. I would love to though!
My daughter read the Fault in Our Stars, and she loved it! She loves John Green!
I would have to say most didn’t surprise me as they are really good movies! However, I am horrible at keeping up with what is new and hot, and haven’t allowed myself time to get into a good book. With that being said I haven’t heard of many of them.
The bestsellers make a lot of sense since some of them are popular movies. I really liked the “The Fault in Our Stars” film.
I am a book-a-holic! And i love to read ebooks like they were candy! Love this!
I LOVED the Divergent series. I read them so fast, I could not pout them down! I have been wanting to read Gone Girl.
I love stocking up on great books and this list sounds awesome. I have been thinking about Divergent for my next book. I loved Gone Girl, BTW
Good to know! I’m going to try to read it over the holidays and hope to crochet too. Too much work and not enough play time lately!
This is a great giveaway! I love reading, so I’d love to win $100.00 for ebooks!
I will forward this on to my friend’s bookclub. I’m sure they will love this list.
Thanks Maria! I’m hoping to read 2-3 of them over the holidays. Crossing my fingers for some free time!
Gone girl and my husband’s secret are both on my “to read” list. They don’t surprise me at all – especially the divergent series.
The Divergent series has been on my list for some time. My son loves them.
I hate to admit it, but it’s been a long time since I’ve read a book – just too buy these days! Yet, my friend just finished The Fault in Our Stars and said it was amazing!
I have finally read the Fault in our Stars but want to read Gone Girl. I downloaded the app.
