I have adult children who like me, love tech. So this year, like most, I’ll be shopping for electronics for them and myself. What?!? Yes! I am my own Santa! I’ve learned over the years that the holidays have some of the best prices of the year so I budget and pick up our higher-ticket electronics during this time.
One of the purchases I’ll be making for myself is a new TV. The one we have now was a Black Friday special over five years ago. It’s a no-name, off brand, that never worked well and had to be returned for repair via postal service shortly after the 90-day warranty was up. The cost to ship a 32” TV was around $100. I was floored. But we’d paid almost $700 for a standard flat screen TV with a terrible picture and worse color.
I’m replacing it not because of the bad picture, heck I can deal with that, it’s because of the HUGE black blotch that runs from top to bottom that’s about 6” wide. It makes trying to watch anything a challenge and since we have very little time to actually sit and watch TV, we want it to be enjoyable when we do.
Fast forward to 2014 and the TV choices are amazing. While I was shopping at Best Buy last week, I stopped to check out the new TV sets. I was impressed by the LG OLED TV. It’s a super thin design and an intuitive webOS™Smart TV interface. But beyond being super smart, it looks great with its stunning colors sharp contrast.
What’s so Fabulous About a LG OLED?
The LG OLED TV is as thin as 0.17″ at its thinnest point (that’s pencil thin) and the screen is curved for a great view from any seat. It has Infinite Contrast and 4 Color Pixel technology which combine to create that is spectacular. The webOS™Smart TV interface means you can watch your favorite streaming premium channels directly through the TV instead of a 3rd party box. Services Hulu Plus, Netflix and YouTube can be controlled with a remote you control with your voice. Service is not included with the set, you’ll need to provide your own.
We watch a lot of History Channel and PBS Nature shows – can you imagine how spectacular they would look on this TV! The sights and sounds would be insane.
So why don’t I buy one? Because I don’t have a single wall in my house that can hold a 55” or 65” TV! But if you do, check out the LG OLED, it’s impressive.
