We love gifts that give back, so this year we’re highlighting several of them. This one is the Gallo Family Vineyards’ Every Cork Counts program. Its benefactor is the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA). They’re an organization whose goal is to end hunger among our senior citizens.
With the help of the Gallo Family Vineyards, MOWAA will be able to serve more of our seniors and to do that, they need your help too
. While you’re celebrating this holiday season with friends and family, take a look at your wine corks before tossing them. If you have a Gallo wine cork, take part in the program and return the cork to the Winery. For each cork returned (virtually or physically), a $1 donation will be made to the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
This is the 5th year that Gallo Family Vineyards has worked to raise funds for this important cause and this year they hope to make the biggest donation yet. But that’s going to be a tough challenge because in the past five years, they’ve collected thousands of corks and donated more than $250K in cash. Already in 2014, the Winery has donated $100K in 2014 and they’d like to raise an additional $50K. They’re hoping you can help them raise the money to feed the nearly 8.9 million seniors who face the threat of hunger.

So this holiday season, toast to good times with your friends, DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE – always have a designated driver – and send your Gallo corks back to the vineyard to help seniors.
I do love a nice wine! And this is for such a great cause.
Wow… that is a fantastic program. Great cause.
What a great cause to raise money for especially this time of year! Meals on Wheels is often overlooked and it is such an amazing program. I have participated through my local rotary club delivering meals and it is so rewarding. Sometimes you are the only visitor these people get, they often feel lonely and forgotten but are just so happy to see someone when they bring the meal. Thank you for promoting this!!!
Well that seems easy enough. Great charity!
Such a great time of year for this cause to be supported like this. I was formally not a wine drinker, but I have slowly but surely been converted. It seems only fair that I purchase a few bottles to help support the cause.
This is such a great idea – and a fantastic cause.
This is wonderful…and a great excuse to pick up some vino. Haha!
What a great way to raise money for such an awesome charity!
What a great program!
We don’t have anything like that here in Canada {That I am aware of}.
I sure hope that they get a lot of corks!
We donated to this last year, nice to know you can have your wine and give back too!!
I keep all my corks in a vase, but I love the idea of this.
This sounds like such a great program. I don’t drink this wine though but I’m sure there are lots who do. Here’s hoping that they get a lot of photos.
I’d never have 10 corks a day, so let’s be clear about that. lol But this is totally awesome that they’re doing it.
