From Full-time Teacher to Stay-at-Home Mom – How I’ve Changed

As a lover of jeans and sweatshirts, I often find it difficult to want to dress up.  When I was teaching full time, I somehow managed to convince my principal that jeans were acceptable not only on Friday’s, but any day ending in “y”.  I never understood how female elementary school teachers were expected to wear dresses and skirts when they spent half their day sitting on a floor, kneeling on the ground, and bent over table groups to meet with children.

As a current stay-at-home mom, my jeans and sweatshirt attire has evolved into yoga pants and sweatshirts.   Why dress up when everything you wear will be covered in spit up or drool in less than ten minutes?  I did promise my husband that I would at least be showered before he got home from work each afternoon- a BIG commitment with an infant attached to my hip.  I’ll be honest, I can’t say I’ve followed through with this promise.  I think my husband is starting to lose faith in me…

Our Anniversary Looming – Time For Dress Shopping

As our three year anniversary approached I made a promise to myself that I would get a new dress and actually put make-up on for our hot date – dinner and a movie on a Wednesday night (a convenient night for my parents to babysit).   Getting out the house to shop, let alone try on clothes, was not an easy task with such a young infant – so I went for the online shopping route – something I was fairly new with.

Dress Shopping Online

I was excited to have the opportunity to try a dress from Pinkblush.  When looking at their site for the dress I wanted to wear, I had one requirement – it HAD to be comfortable!  A few other thoughts came to mind- I want to be able to wear the dress again so I need to be sure it’s long enough to wear in the classroom, I want to be able to hold my baby girl and not feel constricted, and I need to be able to bend over without revealing more than I care to.

Pinkblush had so many options to choose from. They offer a wide variety of styles to fit any personality, body type, or event.  I was so grateful each dress had such clear descriptions and multiple phots to better assist me while shopping online since I was unable to actually see or feel the dress.  I picked out two different dresses and had both sent to my house to see which would be a better fit.

I immediately loved the feel of the Jade Basic Dress– comfortable, light weight, and simple.   However, when it came time to think about wearing in the classroom, I noticed the dress was a bit too short unless I wore leggings under.  On a teacher’s salary, everything I buy must be multi-functional.

I pulled the Orange and Navy Printed 3/4 Sleeve Dress from from it’s package and I loved it from the moment I first laid eyes on it.  This was a dress I could wear for any occasion and it also fit my needs.

I liked that the dress was a little bit longer, had a waist line that flattered my new-mom body, and was lightweight.  The v-neck was modest and didn’t reveal too much.  The 3/4 sleeves makes in perfect for 3 of our seasons so it’s a dress I can wear often.

Pinkblush Dress Anniversary Date Night - ad

Our anniversary date was a success and I felt beautiful and comfortable the entire time- something that can be difficult after just having had a baby. I was completely comfortable throughout the night as we went from an outdoor patio for dinner to an indoor movie – never feeling too warm or chilled.

I look forward to my next purchase from Pinkblush and cannot wait until I can get my hands on one of their maternity dresses!  But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here…
