This post is brought to you by ConAgra Foods’ Hunger Free Summer Initiative through The Motherhood. All opinions are own.
I’ve been thinking of ways I can make an impact in my own community to fight child hunger. The first thing I did was contact my local Food Bank. The person I spoke with was very eager to have me come visit to see where I might fit in.
Unfortunately, their regular volunteer schedule doesn’t work with my schedule and there wasn’t any way for us to make it work, but I didn’t give up. I kept asking for tasks and we finally lighted upon their Back-to-School Backpack Campaign. It’s a perfect fit for my schedule, ability, and desires and now I have a goal of purchasing healthy snacks to stuff into the backpacks along with the school supplies. I’ll also be donating crocheted hats as well so I’ll be busy for the next month!
Hunger-Free Summer: Help Feed Hungry Kids
While I won’t be working directly with feeding children this summer, I am working towards being more involved. Plus I’ve helped by sharing this adorable video below by Kid President which triggers a donation to Feeding America just by viewing, liking or share the video* (find out more about ConAgra’s Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign for a Hunger-Free Summer here).

I hope you’ll take a moment to think about the children who aren’t have a summer of fun and joy. Perhaps you and your children could do an activity to benefit them. Check out the Feeding America’s Pinterest Board, A Childlike Summer, for suggestions of things to do with your kids and more.
