This year I embarked on a journey to get healthier and back in shape. I decided to do this the old fashion way by eating better and working out. My first step was to join a Facebook challenge group with my Beachbody coach Alexa for accountability. It’s been the best decision I’ve made this year. The key to my success has been, clean eating and meal prep, working out, and accountability. By utilizing these three things I am able to get through a busy work week and stay on track.

Healthy Meal Prep
One of the main parts of my success has been meal prep. I choose a day once a week and take a few hours to prep all of my lunches for my workweek and dinners if I know I won’t feel like cooking. By doing this I eliminate the need to grab the easiest, and usually the unhealthiest, thing for lunch that completely throws me off of my clean and healthy eating goals.
Meal prepping doesn’t have to be complicated, it’s just a matter of cooking the things you want for lunch in bulk or making something simple like Mason jar salads. Use the time you’re doing other household chores, relaxing, or even making tonight’s dinner to cook extra meals for the rest of the week. By combining tasks, you’ll be capable of getting it all done.
Healthy Meal Storage
Cool and wrap that extra meal into individual portions and you’re ready to tackle snacks. Set the amount of Tupperware containers or resealable bags you’ll need for the week and pack single portions in them. This is so much cheaper than buying individually packed snacks and you can choose healthier options. Then all you have to do is stick them in your lunch bag the night before and in the event you wake up late, your healthy lunch and snack are ready for you to grab and run.
Healthy Meal Prep Helps Me Keep On Track
Don’t get me wrong I have my “cheat” meals here and there, but overall I have found that eating better on a regular basis has not only helped me to lose weight, but has also helped my overall body feel better and given me more energy. This wouldn’t be possible if I wasn’t meal prepping.
I made up every excuse in the world not to meal prep and once I started doing it I realized how easy it was and how it helped me to stay on track all week long. I promise you that if you can take just a little bit of time once a week to do this it will be a game changer for your eating habits.
Have you tried prepping your meals for the week? Do you have a favorite go-to recipe or snack? I’d love to hear about it!
