I received a  SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive to facilitate this review; all opinions are my own.

As portable technologies continue to grow and expand it is sometimes easy to forget about devices that were once a necessity to carry around.  Cloud services, online storage, and high memory capacity smartphones have made the need for portable storage devices a thing of the past, almost! The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive, is a USB storage device that brings the tried and true USB portable storage device up to par by adding some modern wireless inter connectivity.

SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive – What is it?

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is your standard USB flash drive on the surface, a 3-inch long USB stick that can be plugged in to transfer and store data for use on any PC.  This particular SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive has the capacity to hold 64GB of data, but you can also find it available in 16GB and 32GB capacity. What makes the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive unique is its ability to wirelessly share it’s contents with multiple devices either individually or simultaneously.  The flash drive can connect up to 8 different devices and share music, videos, documents and pictures.  It can even stream content to up to 3 devices at a time as well.

SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive – Set Up

Connecting the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is easy as well. Downloading the SanDisk Wireless Flash drive app on your IOS or Android device allows you to easily browse the files that your USB key is carrying.  The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive can also connect to any device via web browser, essentially removing the connectivity limit, however I would really like it if they were to make a Windows phone and Windows 8 app, I am finding that more and more people around me are using windows phones.  Another of its features is being able to stream media for up 4 hours on a full charge, which means that you will have plenty of time to either share your files when you need them wirelessly or stream movies to your kids devices without needing to transfer any large files to multiples devices.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is very easy to set up and use, downloading the app was quick and there is no messy or weird UI, so learning how to use it is extremely easy. However if you have any doubts or questions the flash Drive does come with several instruction files already stored inside, ranging from several How to videos, Quick start Guides and User Manual PDF’s. Or you can always visit the SanDisk website at http://www.sandisk.com/products/wireless/flash-drive/ to learn more about the device or gather any additional manuals or tutorials.

There is room for improvement with regards to the app you need to transfer files to and from the device though, when browsing through the many files the app does not allow you to move folders from the USB drive to the device instead you need to do move all the files inside the folder and sort them later on the new device, for me this was a bit of an annoyance since I have all my files neatly separated into folders and hate having to move files individually. Hopefully in a future update they will address this particular issue as well as make a windows version of the app, or make even allow the flash drive to be compatible with other explorer type programs like the ES file Explorer, for example.
