I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Brancott Estate Flight Song Wines. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. #MC

My husband and I had a date night in the backyard and took the opportunity to try out the new Brancott Estate Flight Song wines. I chilled them both while I scoured the refrigerator and came up with some red grapes, cheese, and crackers to enjoy while the hubby set out the chairs and started a fire in our fire pit.

Taste Testing

After a few minutes of settling in, we unscrewed the cap and took a taste. Yes, this is screw-top wine, but if you think that means low class vino, you’d be wrong. As someone who struggles with a traditional cork, it’s a blessing to have something so easy to open.

We poured out two glasses, one of each vintage, and we each took a sip. It’s no surprise that after tasting both, we each picked a different bottle as our favorite. Mine was predictably the Sauvignon Blanc with its pink grapefruit and passion fruit – two of my favorite flavors. The hubby went for his favorite, the Pinot Grigio, with its floral notes and white peach and guava.

Date Night Wine Tasting - Brancott Estate Flight Song Wines #MC Sponsored

Both of us enjoyed the wines and found them to be crisp and light. We were surprised to find out they’re reduced calorie wines. They were created with 20% fewer calories than their Estate Range Wines, it’s not noticeable in the taste, but then I’ve always preferred light wines.

Obviously we’re not wine Connoisseurs. If you are, you can find the Flight Song Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Tasting Notes and Flight SongTM Marlborough Pinot Grigio 2013 Tasting Notes online.

Brancott Estate is located in Marlborough, New Zealand.  Their chief winemaker, Patrick Materman, has been with the Estate since 1990. The winery produces several wines including the Brancott Estate Range, Letter Series, and Flight Song. Their Brancott Estate website has an amazing mass of information about the wines, the grapes, and the people behind the wine. It’s worth some time to check it all out.

Slowing Down and Reconnecting

The evening couldn’t have been better. Though it’s still a little chilly here in Seattle and blankets were a necessity, the wine, fire, and snacks gave us a few minutes to sit side-by-side and look at the stars and talk about our day. We don’t get enough down time together.
