I participated in a FROZEN/Pirate Fairy Press Event which included a DisneyTooon Studios tour.  Disney provided transportation and accommodations; all opinions are my own. Read more about this event here and by following the hashtag #piratefairybloggers on Twitter.

DisneyToon Studios is smaller than Pixar and  their parent studio WDS. Butlike the others, it’s  full of amazingly talented people who’ve created many of the films you and your children have loved for years.

The studio creates spin-offs and original stories with the Fairy series being one of their most popular franchises. Their recent films include “Planes,” “Secret of the Wings,” “Pixie Hollow Games,” “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue,” “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure“, and more.

DisneyToon Studios Tour – Peek Inside!

There’s not a lot of information available about this small arm of the Walt Disney Company. They don’t have a web presence with the exception of information about their films which is published on the Walt Disney Studios site.

The building is located on Sonora Blvd in Glendale, California.  It’s a nondescript brick building with gray trim and fenced parking lot. But while it may not look like much from the street, inside is a different story.

The courtyard is welcoming with tables and seating to collaborate, share a cup of coffee, or eat lunch in the warm sun. Tables are shaded from the sun and occasional rain with umbrellas and flower boxes are filled brilliant red blooms. The park-like atmosphere is serene, a great introduction to the building.

Inside visitors are greeted to a large, open area that was decorated in Pirate Fairy regalia. Modern furniture in poppy red allows people to meet casually. Media walls are filled with still photos, video, props and more to celebrate their newest release.

An upper lounge area contains the same mod red chairs as well  as trim gray couches. All of the Disney buildings have a similar style – carefree and casual to encourage creativity. For this event, large wooden poles were added with banners sporting all of the Fairies and a large sail hung from a mast. It wasn’t possible to look in any direction and not see the theme carried out.

The DisneyToon Studios lobby was a fabulous place to take a peek into the pride the studio has for their newest DTV film.

Even the DisneyToon Studios Cafe was Pirate Fairy themed!

So much talent goes into the films as well as into the design of areas like the lobby. It’s a pleasure to get a chance to tour the studio and get a peek inside.
