Takumi Japan Event Recap - Takumi Japan Featured at Japan Week NYC ad

Japan Week is a chance for small businesses and artisans to share their wares. It took place last week in New York City and brought the best of the Japanese culture to the Big Apple. The event is a partnership between the Japan Tourism Agency and Japan National Tourism Organization and is supported by the General Consulate of Japan in New York. They’ve come together to help promote the best of Japanese culture, tourism, and cuisine.

The event took place at the Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall which is a large and beautiful venue that allowed vendors like Takumi Japan to show off their beautiful products in an historic setting.

Takumi means “artesian” in Japanese and this company lives up to their name. Takumi Japan creates items that are functional and beautiful. They believe that their creations should feel good in the hand and possess form and function; qualities that make products last a lifetime.

They create table ware, fashions, textiles, electronics, food products, and more, many of which they shared during the event. Their booth was popular with attendees and filled with handcrafted ceramics, electronics, lacquer ware, and more.

They also shared an array of everyday object to make life easier and more beutiful including the Embossing MAKIE iPhone Cover. It’s a beautiful Lacquer Ware iPhone cover that’s made with a 3D finish and traditional craftsmanship. They’re finished with a clear urethane coating to protect against scratches. The plastic poly-carbonate protects your smartphone investment while the design adds style. They also manufacture wood iPhone covers and keyboards as well as this fun little Mobile Catcher. It’s a  cute little stand for your smartphone that lets you view the screen easily which is created from American hardwoods and painted for a unique look.

For eye glass wearers like me, they created a  Glasses Place – a unique holder for your eyeglasses to provide a clean and scratch-free place for them to reside when you’re not wearing them.
