Crochet Infinity Scarf Pattern
By Meladora’s Creations for Crochet
Crochet Supplies Needed
- 3-4 skeins of yarn 4-ply Yarn (60″ long – 2-1/2 skeins (100 grams each) I used Lion Brand Yarn 620-174B Wool-Ease Yarn, Avocado ($3.57 at Amazon)
- Fabric Tape Measurer
- Crochet Hook – Size I (original pattern calls for Size J)
- Scissors
- Row marker
- Needle
Don’t be confused by the crochet infinity scarf pattern explanation in the video below. The creator goes on about twisting the scarf, and it isn’t necessary. You can stitch it in the round without a twist, and it looks fabulous.
Skip to the 5-minute mark to start the video and skip the unnecessary information. At the 6 minute mark, she discusses how long to make the scarf and to go by the length of your single crochet and not the number of chains. If you want to skip all of the info and get right to the stitches, skip to the 12-minute mark.
I used the foundation single crochet stitch which is perfect for this project and made it 60″ long, I also used an I crochet hook which was a mistake. It’s a tighter weave, but it doesn’t have as much stretch. That means it’s warm, but because I only made it 60″ it’s only for a petite person. An I hook is fine if you add length.
Also, since I made this for a petite person, I didn’t make it as wide as the video calls for. That’s the beauty of the pattern, do what looks and feels right for you and the yarn you’ve chosen.
The completed pattern is 5 rows puff stitch (with single crochet in between), 15 butterfly stitch rows (I did 7), and 5 additional puff stitch rows and single crochet row to finish.
Don’t let the very long video scare you away; there is lots of repeated information. Just find the spots with the stitch demonstration or use the written pattern. It’s a beautiful scarf. My next one will be for me and will be 80″ long.
