Measures 7″ tall (8-1/2 with fold extended) x 9″ round

This is an easy basket for beginner crocheters. The pattern works up in about an hour and can be done is so many different variations. This is the first in my Free Holiday Crochet Patterns.

CROCHET STORAGE BASKET PROJECT SUPPLIES

This basket is worked in the round until the the foldover which is work by turning the work and then working again in the round in the opposite direction.

Row 1: With two strands – one red and one white, chain 6; slip stitch into the first stitch. Chain 1 (or use magic circle)

Row 2: 12 single crochet into the ring formed by the chain 6 (or the magic circle), slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1. Pull the yarn tightly to close up the hole.

Row 3:  two single crochet in each stitch; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 4:   one single crochet in the first stitch, two single crochet in the second stitch; repeat the pattern; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 5: one single crochet in each of the next two stitches, then two single crochet in the third stitch. Repeat the pattern; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 6: one single crochet in each stitch; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 7:  single crochet in the first 3 stitches, then two single crochets in the next stitch. Continue the pattern; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

 Row 8: one single crochet in each stitch; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

 Row 9: single crochet in the first 4 stitches, then two single crochets in the next stitch. Continue the pattern; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

 Row 10: one single crochet in each stitch; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 11: single crochet in the first 5 stitches, then two single crochets in the next stitch. Continue the pattern; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 12: sc in BACK LOOP of all stitches; slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker;  chain 3

Rows 13 – 18: one single crochet in each stitch;  slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 3

Row 19: one double crochet in each stitch;  slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 3

Row 20: one double crochet in each stitch;  slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Rows 21-27: one single crochet in each stitch;  slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 28: one single crochet in FRONT LOOP ONLY;  slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; ch 1 TURN WORK

Rows 29 & 30: one single crochet in all stitches slip stitch into first stitch, mark the round with a row marker; chain 1

Row 31: work a picot in every other stitch: single crochet, ch 3, single crochet; ch 1 skip next stitch, repeat; slip stitch into first stitch, ch 1, cut.

Finish, bury ends
