This round Fold-over Crochet Storage Basket or cache pot is great for storing items in the bathroom or bedroom. Its soft, floppy style also lends itself well to holding baby toys, pet supplies and more. Since the only stitches you’ll need to know how to do is a single crochet and a backwards single crochet, this is an easy project for a beginner.

1 sc row of buff IN THE BACK LOOP ONLY (round 23) – slip stitch in the first chain of the last row, chain 1 and turn your project.
CROCHET STORAGE BASKET FOLD OVER TOP
For the fold over you’ll be working on from the inside of the basket so that when the fold is turned over, the right side of your stitching will show. Complete 3 rows of single crochet (slip stitch and chain 1 at the end of each round).
FINISHING
Complete the piece with a crab stitch (aka reverse single crochet – a video tutorial is below) in buff in each single crochet. Slip stitch in first stitch and tie off. Weave in your ends and clip any extra. Use & enjoy!
Technically this crochet storage basket is washable; however, in doing so, you’ll lose some of the stiffness that keeps in erect and the yarn will lose it’s freshness and look more felted.
Crab Stitch
A simple stitch that’s perfect for finishing off any project. Also called a backwards single crochet.

i made a double strand yarn basket and am thinking of dipping it in liquid starch and placing it over a wastebasket to dry.do you think this would work to make it stiffer?
This is a cute idea. I love crocheting but I haven’t tried making anything like this before.
I’ve done 2 others ones (Christmas themed) and I’m working on a fall one. I haven’t decided what I’m going to put in them yet though. 🙂
