I was loaned a Nokia Lumia 1020 to facilitate this review, no compensation was received; all opinions are my own.
The Lumia 1020, the latest from the Nokia line of phones, boasts an incredible 41 megapixel camera. When I first heard that, I immediately thought bulky, big, and fragile. But wow was I surprised when I got my hands on it.
The phone is light, even lighter than Nokia Lumia 920. Placing the two phones side by side, there’s a noticeable difference in size; however, the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020‘s most obvious and eye catching feature is its camera. It’s designed to be both sleek and thin, thus allowing the Lumia 1020 to fit comfortably in any pocket.
Upon setting up the Lumia 1020, I noticed instantly that the OS was running much faster and much smoother, than the Lumia 920. That’s because the Lumia 1020 has double the RAM giving it more memory and processing power to run my favorite apps.
I am quite impressed with the fixes they did with this particular model, especially resolving some of the battery problems and the screen freeze issues that I had continuously on my Lumia 920.
Unfortunately, not all features came standard with the Lumia 1020, and the phone does not come with wireless charging capability. It’s odd that considering how popular wireless charging is becoming, its one feature the 1020 doesn’t have one I would have loved to have seen included.

The Lumia 1020’s camera comes preloaded with its own apps to maximize the use of the of the 41 megapixel camera. Those apps provide the 1020 with marvelous photo taking versatility, including taking pictures in low light and zooming in to capture fabulous details.
These preloaded apps include Nokia Panorama, a fabulous bit of software that allows you to take panoramic photos by stitching together single photos to create beautiful scenic images. Nokia Cinemagraph which allows you to add animations to your pictures, and Nokia Creative Studio for instant editing for pictures as the moment you take them. All of these apps work in tandem with the new 41 megapixel camera giving the Lumia 1020 an edge in what has always been one of the most used features on any smartphone.
The AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 stands tall against other smart phones offering something that sets it apart from all other phones in the market today – it’s suburb camera. I am enjoying using my Lumia 1020 and if you love taking pictures on your phone, then the Lumia 1020 will be a great phone to have for that special moment.
All of the photos here were taken by me and are posted unedited with the exception of sizing them to fit. Imagine with a tiny bit of editing how spectacular they’d be. Most won’t believe a smartphone has this kind of photo capability, but the NOkia 1020 does.
