My husband finally agreed to get an annual physical. It’s been about 10 years because he’s been avoiding the truth. He’s thin, fit, and muscular, but his cholesterol and blood pressure are off the charts.
I picked up some heart-friendly healthy meals to celebrate after his appointment and to thank him for making a step forward in taking care of himself so that he’ll be around for many more birthdays and anniversaries. At least that was the plan.
Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Frozen Meals: Celebrating Healthy Changes
Little did I know that the night before he’d go scrounging through our freezer to find and cook the meals I planned on serving! Well that changed things and instead of a celebration meal it turned into a last meal before fasting for the appointment feast at 11:30pm.
Since I don’t eat meat and my skinny hubby was worried about being hungry once his food curfew hit, he made both frozen meals. The first was grain-crusted wild caught whole fish filet, brown rice with edamame, snap peas, wax beans, carrots, and a plum ginger sauce. The second was whole coconut-crusted wild caught salmon filet, brown rice with wheatberries, snap peas, orange and yellow carrots, edamame, and ginger lemongrass sauce.
So how was his last meal? Delicious! He’s a huge fan of fish so he loved that there’s finally a fish dinner that goes beyond breaded fish sticks. The flavors were rich and even though he forgot to put the sauce on both meals until the last bite of each, he thoroughly enjoyed them sans sauce and even more with it.
What I loved is that they’re minimally processed, contain no artificial ingredients, and have no preservatives – that’s a huge plus in my book. Each of the six varieties has between 270-390 calories, 7-9 grams of fat, 15-27 grams of protein, and 290-590 grams of sodium.
Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Frozen Meals: Available at Walmart
The additional meals in the line are: Honey Citrus Chicken, Pineapple Black Pepper Beef, Pomegranate Chicken, and Roasted Red Pepper Chicken. Sadly there aren’t any vegetarian options in the line – one can hope they’ll add some soon! I paid $3.48 per meal at Walmart (see photos from my shopping trip here) which I think that’s a fabulous price! You’ll find these new healthy frozen meals where the organic and vegetarian selections are in the freezer section.
My husband’s physical exam went well but we’re still waiting on blood tests and he’s got plenty of follow up appointments and tests to go. He’s 55 and has a stressful job. He has to work on reducing his stress, but I can help by providing him healthy meal alternatives like the Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Frozen meals.
