HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless SpeakerThis review and giveaway for the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker was made possible by AT&T. All opinions are my own.

It’s summer and many people are headed to the beach, on vacation, and various other places to relax. For most that means bringing along music! But unlike the days when I was a teen, today’s generation doesn’t have to lug a boom box with them. Now there are wireless Bluetooth speakers that sound fabulous, but fit in the palm of your hand.

I recently checked out the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker available at AT&T. It’s a tiny speaker, measuring only 2-1/2 “ x 2-1/2” and weighing about 8 ounces. This tiny speaker works wirelessly up to 30 feet from its Bluetooth-paired device for up to four hours (the distance from the device and the volume affects the battery life so you can affect your playing time as necessary). Need more time? Use an inline cord and connect it directly to your device and you’ll get up to 12 hours from the same charge. And speaking of charging – use a mini USB and connect it to any power source for recharging in about 3 hours.

How To Use the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker

Using the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker is easy. Switch the manual power switch on the bottom to “on”, turn on the Bluetooth on your device. Your device will “search” for compatible device and will find “Jam Classic.” Select the Jam Classic and put in code 000000 and you’re device will be paired. Then turn on your music and enjoy!

The speaker has simple controls – you can turn up or down the volume from your device or the volume controls ( – or +) as well as play or pause the music (again from your device or the Jam).

What do the Indicator Lights on the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker Mean?

There are several indicator lights – one for the Bluetooth status and the other for the battery. The Charge indicator is green when it’s charged; red when it’s charging, and changes to a flashing red when the battery is low and requires charging. The Bluetooth indicator flashes blue when it’s in pairing mode, slow flashing blue when it’s paired, and red when it’s in the inline mode.

Compatible Devices

The speaker works with most Bluetooth-enabled devices (get the full list of compatible devices for the HMDX Jam Wireless Speaker on the AT&T website) and comes in six yummy colors – Apple (green), Apricot (orange), Blackberry (grey), Blueberry (blue), Grape (purple), and Strawberry (red).

How I use the HMDX Jam Bluetooth Wireless Speaker

The speaker is small enough to fit in your bag and sounds good enough to be enjoyed on the go or at home. I use mine in the kitchen where I listen to the Big Brother live feeds. It lets me hear all the whispering and scheming I would otherwise miss. I also use it when my husband and I are watching Hulu Plus. After 32 years on a fire truck he’s got significant hearing loss; I don’t. Watching a movie with him can be excruciating for me. This little speaker sits on the table next to him and we’re both comfortable! But for those of you who prefer music, you’ll enjoy it as well.
