BBQ Veggie Burgers

While many of you did some outdoor grilling this week, I grilled inside. I’m not a fan of the charcoal grill, there’s just too many questions about the safety of food cooked on them. Plus, I’ve found it’s MUCH easier and quicker to cook inside.

For my indoor picnic I pulled out my panni grill and it worked fabulously! For my picnic I chose two different varieties of Chez Marie, a veggie patties. Chez Marie is based in Wilsonville, Oregon, just a few hundred miles south of here but they’re available in Washington and Oregon at PCC stores, Whole Foods, and Fred Meyers (Seattle) for about $4.99 a 4-patty bag. You can also find them at many restaurants in SW Washington like Burgerville.

What’s different about Chez Marie’s veggie patties is that there are certified GMO-free plus they’re corn-, soy-, and gluten-free and they’re amazingly delicious!

The patties are sold in the frozen food section. To cook, I just pulled out two and put them on the hot panni maker. Within 5 minutes I had two toasted veggie patties. I tossed on my buttered buns and in under 10 minutes I had a healthy and delicious picnic lunch for two!

I added just a bit of mayo and mustard, a large leaf of lettuce, a huge slice of tomato, and a slice of Colby jack cheese. They were AMAZING! To round out our picnic lunch I added potato chips, strawberries, and vegetarian baked beans.

Even my hubby had to admit that cooking on the indoor grill was faster and easier and I loved that it gave the veggie patties a crispy coating which I love.

Chez Marie Veggie Patties

There are several flavor varieties available including: SPICY BEAN – vegan patty with a hint of spice; HEARTY HEMP SEED – vegan patty with healthy hemp seeds; MARIE’S HOMESTYLE – Marie’s original veggie patty; WHOLESOME HARVEST – vegan patty packed with veggies; WOW MUSHROOM – mushrooms, onions, and cheese.

I made my patties in a panni maker but Chez Marie recommends you use an oven or toaster oven for their patties. The patties are pre-baked so they just need reheating. You can also heat them on the stove in a skillet or grill them (we tried a few days later and it fell into the grill). They don’t recommend the microwave.

Chez Marie GMO-free veggie patties are delicious! I’ll be making the Chez Marie Vegetarian Sheppard’s Pie very soon! Visit their site for additional recipes.
