When I was offered the chance to try Aura Cacia’s Ylang Ylang essential oil products I originally turned them down. Not because I don’t love Aura Cacia’s products, because I do. I already own 5 of their essential oils that I use almost daily and I chose them after a lot of research on the purest essential oils available. No, I turned them down because I assumed I would like Ylang Ylang. I assumed, wrongly, that it was a heavy Oriental scent that would be cloyingly sweet.

Thankfully, they encouraged me to see past my pre-conceived notions and try it and I’m so glad they did. It turns out I LOVE Ylang Ylang! It’s a floral scent, very reminiscent of gardenias, and I couldn’t love it more. And what’s even better, is it’s said to have a calming effect, something I could certainly use!

Essential Oils: For your Body

They sent me several products to try and I just can’t pick a favorite. The Ylang Ylang essential oil is the heart of their Choose Calm collection and it’s so versatile! And 3 drops of it to some sweet almond oil for a natural perfume (I stopped wearing synthetic fragrances years ago when I found out how harmful they are – now I have an alternative!). You can also put 1-2 drops of the essential oil on your pillow for a restful night, though I use the Panic Button Mist spray for my linens. It’s fabulous! I’ve even sprayed it on my pajamas.

Ylang Ylang Essential oil TipsIf you’d like a relaxing bath, use the Mineral Bath Salts or Aromatherapy Foam Bubbles or make your own mix by adding 7-10 drops of Ylang Ylang to your bath water. I’m not a bath girl, so I was thrilled to see they have shower tables! They have the same 100% pure, organic essential oils in an effervescent tablet. I’m going to have to try those!

For those of you sweating out summer already, make your own cooling mist with 2 drops of Ylang Ylang and 4 drops of bergamot oil for each ounce of water. Keep it in the fridge for a cool refreshing spray. It’s easy to use, shake, spray, relax, and enjoy!

Their Skin Care Oil is fabulous! Without provocation, my husband started massaging my feet with it. My feet were as soft and smooth as they are after a pedicure and razor! Plus it was a fabulous bonding time for us. He’s already done it for a second time – I think he enjoys the feel of the oil on his dry hands as much as I’m loving it on my feet!

Essential Oils: Scent Your Home Naturally

Also check out their aromatherapy room diffuser. It’s how I scent my home. I live with a firefighter who doesn’t allow open flames, so this is the next best thing. Naturally scented air that’s not overpowering, isn’t synthetic, and adds to my life is the only way in my book. The scent needs to be reapplied every 3-4 days and is easy to do so. You can change out the scent just by changing the diffuser pad.

June can get a little crazy with ends of school activities, wedding, dads, and grads. You can relax naturally and enjoy the calming benefits of aromatherapy. Just use quality essential oils and you’ll reap the benefits!
