Del Real Foods – Ready to eat authentic Mexican Food
Living in Seattle, we’re about a million miles away from authentic Mexican food. Sure, we have restaurants, but generally we have Americanized Mexican food (think those fast food places that slap some ground beef in a shell, smother it in sour cream and cheese, and call it ethnic food). But I’ve just been introduced to pre-cooked authentic Mexican food from Del Real that is heat-and-eat and delicious!
Many years ago (think early 1980’s) I was a young girl working at a local phone company. Every Tuesday, a woman came by to sell her homemade, authentic tamales. Oh my….the memory of it makes my mouth water! I ate meat back then and every week it was different – from pork to beef – and how I looked forward to those corn husk wrapped bits of deliciousness.

Del Real Mexican Food
Times changed and I stopped eating meat, but I thought about them often and never found anything that was on the same level as those made from the woman who made her living here cooking the food of her homeland. So when I received tamales to taste test from Del Real I was hesitant. But I shouldn’t have been! Then sent me Cheese & Green Chile Tamales (a vegetarian option which were surprisingly and pleasantly mild) and pork tamales for the hubby. They were amazing and they rivaled my memory for sure!
The Arroz (rice with vegetables) was flavorful and a great side to all of the other dishes. Mildly flavored an moist. We didn’t have any shells on hand so the hubby tried the Carnitas with a side of rice. They could have also been used in a pulled pork sandwich or slider (they didn’t last that long – the hubby finished them in two sittings).
We were pleasantly surprised by how easy all of the Del Real products were to prepare and how much we loved their flavors with the exception of the hot sauce which was HOT!

Hi Connie,
I am a long time confirmed email subscriber (and follower in just about every other way as well!) I very much enjoy your blog for it’s (your) fine posts (especially on food/recipes, DIY and quality giveaways.
One question though – I have searched everywhere IN plain sight and OUT – and I simply cannot find any “secret code” anywhere!
Can you please advise where I might locate it? I am especially eager to enter as many times as I legitimately can…Why because I ADORE Novica and would be thrilled to win a $50 GC.
Thanks!

My family is a bit shy on mexican food because we don’t know how and what to use, so this would be a great start for us all.
I love that it’s mild but can be spiced up for those who like it HOT like my son 🙂
