Tyrrells Chips sent me a fabulous tote filled with their products for me to try. I’ll do my best to share just how fabulous they are, but I don’t know if my words can relate just how much I loved them.
The C Word
You say “potato”, we say “potato” – that we know. Two nations divided by a common language, and all that. But just in case: the delightful crunchy potato nibbles you like to call “chips”, we English call “crisps”. To us, “chips” are what one has with fish, what you call “French fries” and the French themselves call “frites”. Confused? We are, which is why on our US packs we’ve gone with your “chips”. We hope this meets with your approval. – Tyrrells Potato Crisps
Tyrrells Chips – Hand Cooked English Crisps
Tyrrells’ fabulous chips have only been available here in the US for a few months and so you may not have seen them in your favorite store yet. But I’m guessing that as soon more of us discover their deliciousness, they’ll be available in more locations.
So what makes these chips different? Tyrrells are hand cooked in small batches at the company’s farm in England. They’re made from two potatoes we don’t have here –the Lady Rosetta and Lady Claire. These potatoes are sourced from 10 local farms so they’re fresh.
But Tyrrells Potato Crisps’ offers much more than regular potato chips. They also make a variety of flavors, all of which are vegetarian and gluten-free and four are vegan-friendly. The flavors are: Lightly Sea Salted, Sweet Chili & Red Pepper, Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar, Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, Mature Cheddar & Chives, Beetroot, Parsnip & Carrot Chips with a pinch of Sea Salt, Worcestershire Sauce & Sundried Tomato.
My favorite Tyrrells Chips? Their Mature Cheddar & Chives, Beetroot, Parsnip & Carrot Chips with a pinch of Sea Salt chips. That’s quite a title for an amazing array of chips. The parsnip and carrot chips add a little bit of sweetness that mixes so beautifully with the Sea Salt. Truly tasty!
All of the Tyrrells chips are paper thin and crisp, but hardy. My bags arrived all the way from England intact – hardly a crumb to be had. That’s pretty impressive!
