Microsoft has launched a new way to buy their popular Office software. Now you can own Office 365 Home Premium for a yearly subscription fee. But why “rent” your software instead of buying the whole package? Price, convenience, and future-proofing your software.
Subscription Features – Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium
For one yearly fee, you get the full Office 365 Home Premium which can be run on up to 5 devices. For example, your PC, Mac, tablet, and more. With that kind of coverage, you’ll be able to sign-in and access your work on any one of those devices. With the retail version of Office you’d need to buy five licenses which is several hundred dollars for the basic Office package and into the thousands for the full Office Premium.
Plus, your subscription means that you won’t be paying for outdated software. If Microsoft updates their Office software, as long as your subscription is active, you’ll be upgraded – that’s future-proofing your software at these low prices!
But the feature I love the most is the integrated SkyDrive storage so my documents are stored in the cloud so I can access them anywhere I have internet service. That means my documents are saved to a secure location so if my laptop or PC get stolen or are damaged in a fire, flood, etc., I won’t lose my valuable data. I also don’t have to keep track of any discs and should I crash my computer, I’ll be able to reinstall the software immediately.
As an added bonus, I’ve noticed the Office 365 Home Premium is much faster than my old full retail Office software. There’s no screen lag, the saves are superfast, and it’s packed with great features! Plus my Office subscription is managed right online! I just log into Office.com to access my documents and manage my subscription and devices.
The subscription service is perfect for families as well as small business because it comes with all the Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, and Publisher. Plus as an Office subscriber, you’ll get extra SkyDrive storage at no charge! And your software is upgraded automatically whenever new updates are pushed out by Microsoft making it truly worry-free.
Installation – Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium
Since I had a preview of Office 2013 on my computer I wasn’t able to install the files immediately. But Microsoft is ready for such instances and they had a handy little piece of software to download to remove those files. Installation took a little bit longer because of my preview copy, but it was still done in about 30 minutes (of course how long yours takes in dependent on your internet connection speed, computer capabilities, and files which you may have which cause a conflict).
Cost – Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium
The yearly cost for the service is $99.99 billed annually (that’s only $8.33 a month!) and you can try it before you buy it with a 30-day free trial. Make sure when comparing prices you notice this is the version with Outlook (my preferred email handler!) so its comparison is the Office Professional 2013 for 1 PC which is $399.99 – yes, that’s four years of Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium for the same price!
