Children in the US are eating a lot of “food” that’s far from natural and that disturbs me. I shudder when I see some of the popular products that are saturated in artificial colors and flavors and so far from food that they should really be called chemical soup. But there are better alternatives for parents who want quick and easy meals for their kids that can be utilized when home cooking isn’t possible. Kidfresh is one of those brands that is making huge strides in providing nutritious and delicious options for kids that aren’t expensive and with kid-friendly taste.
Additionally, Kidfresh has “hidden” vegetables into their meals for those kids who haven’t acquired a taste for them. Granted, that includes carrots which in my experience is one vegetable that most kids enjoy. I would have loved to see broccoli or spinach be the chosen veggie, but I suppose they’re harder to hide the flavor of in foods.
With its line of all natural frozen meals for kids, Kidfresh offers today’s parents a convenient and fun way to feel good about mealtime without sacrificing taste or nutrition. “Kidfresh frozen meals provide healthy, nutritious and natural food that actually tastes good to kids” said Sharron Dalton, PHD, RD, who works with Kidfresh as a Pediatric Nutritionist.
Kidfresh Taste Test
Do you have to be a kid to love Kidfresh meals? Heck no! At less than 400 calories and all natural ingredients which means no artificial flavors, colors, additives, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or trans fats, they’re great for everyone.
I love that they’ve made several of their choices vegetarian! Leaving the meat out a few times a week is great and for people like me who choose to go meat-free as a lifestyle, it’s wonderful to have a frozen natural and vegetarian choice. Plus, these frozen meals are a great way to maintain portion control. I enjoyed the Kidfresh Wagon Wheel Mac & Cheese with three meatless meatballs, and a serving of peas for dinner. It was delicious! As good as any homemade Macaroni and Cheese dish I’ve had. The veggies were well hidden and not detectable in taste or texture.
I also tried the Muy Cheesy Quesadillas by making them on my Panini maker. In these the cheese was slightly off, perhaps from the vegetables, or maybe just the cheese blend, but it’s a meal I personally wouldn’t purchase again.
I’m thrilled to support Kidfresh because they’ve committed to caring for the environment by using BPA-free containers (I still wouldn’t heat them in the microwave – I remove mine to a glass container to heat and eat) and they use 100% recyclable packaging. Additionally, they’re a sponsor of Save the Children.
Kidfresh produces heat-to-eat meals can be found in the frozen food aisle of grocery stores all over the US. They retail for about $3 each.
