My loving husband and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary on October 8th. While we generally don’t make a big to-do about anniversaries, we do try to do something on the landmark ones.
For our 10th we went to a lovely hotel in a small town a ferry ride away. At the time we had young children so the time away was a saving grace for our sanity and our marriage. I don’t remember doing anything again until our 25th when we went to my husband’s favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas. We had our anniversary dinner at a diner in one of the hotels and I had an enormous egg salad sandwich. It was heaven.
So what to do for the 30th? One thing I’m considering is renting an RV for a week or two. We’ve always wanted to do that – to just drive between national parks and check out Yosemite, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, and more. My husband drives a fire truck for a living so of course this really appeals to him. Me, I love the thought of being able to blog from the road, literally, as well as sneak a nap in the back while the hubby drives. Granted, the weather in October can be iffy, but it wouldn’t be a horrible time to go.
Another thing we’ve always wanted to do was rent a houseboat. There’s a place in eastern Washington that has some pretty amazing floating homes and lots of lake to explore. There’s another on in Oregon which is just a few hours away.
We’ve done cruises and loved them, granted I’ve been one 3 to Steve’s 1, so I supposed that’s an option. I’m a bit spoiled though. Once on a Disney cruise it’s hard to consider any other cruise line’s itinerary. And of course there’s always Disneyland or Disney World. We’ve done both many times.
But the one place I think we would travel to is Washington, DC. We’ve always wanted to check out the amazing history back there. We don’t have battlefields and monuments here in Seattle.
I’m not sure what we’re going to do so if you have ideas, please share. I just feel this year we should celebrate our marriage.
