I’ve recently been introduced to a new band that I’ve fallen in love with. Vintage Trouble is a bluesy band of young men who ooze coolness. Their lead singer, Ty Taylor, reminds me of some of the best R&B singers of the 60’s. And his voice? Smooth and delicious!
The band wears their retro style beautifully. They’re undeniably fresh, with a twist of the past. Ty Taylors’ swagger is as impressive as his voice and his love of skinny suits feels perfect for the music – he’s a dynamic front man for sure! He’s backed by some amazing musicians which makes for a full and satisfying package.
The band is said to be inspired by the work of Ike & Tina Turner, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles. I can hear every one of them in Vintage Troubles debut album, “The Bomb Shelter Sessions.” I dare you to listen to the tracks and not get caught up in the flow! Their unique style marries rock and soul for a completely fresh perspective on the two.
Vintage Trouble – ‘The Bomb Shelter Sessions’ Album Sampler
The boys are based in LA, but they’ve been travelling the world. They take turns sharing their personal accounts of the road on the Vintage Troubles Blog and I’ve got to say, it’s a fascinating read. So well written and such a great look at what it’s like to be a band who’s about to make their mark on the music world.
Their debut album is fantastic. A great mix of uptempo and slower, more soulful tracks. “Gracefully” and “Run Outta You” are among my favs, but there isn’t really a bad track on the CD. By the way, they also offer their music on vinyl!
I’d ‘bout given up on it all
Every single little hope and dream
Then you heard it and answered my call
When you lifted me
Lifted me over the wall
– Gracefully, Vintage Trouble
“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Appearance
Vintage Trouble will be playing live on Leno on Tuesday night (1/15/13) at 11:35 PM EST/10:35 PM CST (check your local listings for “The Tonight Show” in your area). I’ll be tuning in to catch their performance to see if they’re as fabulous live as they are on their CD. I’m betting I’ll love them even more.
