Shop the MasterCard MarketPlace for the Holidays - great deals on gifts, events, and experiencesI am an online shopper and the holidays are no exception. I probably do 90% of my Christmas shopping online and have for years.  I love the convenience, the ability to truly comparison shop, and the chance to search for coupons, discounts, deals, and more.

I think online holiday shopping gives me a chance to really personalize a gift instead of tramping from store to store trying to find the perfect thing and then giving up out of sheer exhaustion and making do. Something I’ve done many, many times in the past. Plus I’m exposed to many more ideas than are available in my local area.

What is the MasterCard MarketPlace™?

This year I’m about to finish my list by taking advantage of the MasterCard MarketPlace website. It’s a site that offers deals and discounts on travel, arts, clothing, events, spa and beauty services, and more. It’s available to MasterCard® cardholders and while the program isn’t new, it’s evolved to a new plan which adds additional social media features and functions.

This updated site allows you to search available offers at any time or sign up and have the site send you personalized offers. By linking your Facebook account, the service will base its choices for you on your Facebook profile and other Facebook activities. Additionally, to get even more targeted recommendations, you can update your profile on the MarketPlacesite. Once you’re connected to your Facebook account, you’ll also have the ability to share offers with your friends, bookmark your favorites, and more.

Don’t have a Facebook account or don’t want to connect or register? No problem! You can search the site without registering. Just select the zip code you want to search near and deals will be served up for that location. You can also search by category or by popular deals.

Deals can include tourist activities that you may want to give as a gift or enjoy yourself. Or you can search a city you’ll be visiting and look for discounted activities to participate in when you visit! I know I’ll be doing that the next time I travel.

Gift Giving Via the MasterCard MarketPlace

I checked the deals in my surrounding area and found some great activities, concerts, restaurants and more. I was especially happy to see an offer for a restaurant I’ve been thinking about trying in a small city near where we live. I purchased the voucher ($10 for $25 in food with a minimum $35 purchase) and I’ll be putting it in my husband’s Christmas Stocking. It’s a BBQ restaurant and he’ll love it! (See my online shopping experience in photos on Google+)

I’m still shopping for other gifts for my boys – they’re used to getting discount vouchers for Christmas because I get a great deal and they get fun experience so we all win! In the past I’ve given them whitewater rafting trips, painting classes, theatre tickets, and more. It’s a great way to give experiences, entertainment, and events without spending a fortune.

I appreciate the new opportunities to save money while getting access to some amazing events, special discounts, and deals that using the MasterCard MarketPlace™ affords me. Check it out, you may find the perfect gift for someone on your list!
