Disney Pixar BRAVE Movie starring Merida

Disney Pixar BRAVE Movie on Home Video 11/13/12

Hey movie watchers, Alex here again with another 3D Blu-ray review. When I received my copy of Brave on 3D Blu-ray I was really excited to pop it in and watch it for the second time. I was looking forward to experiencing this movie again since it’s been several months since I saw it in the theaters. I can say that it has lost none of its original appeal on its journey to the home theater.

Brave is the story of the young princess Merida (Kelly Macdonald), the daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). With the looming “doom” of an arranged marriage, Merida decides to change her fate with the help of a Witch of the Wood. This movie is centered on the relationship between mother and daughter; and it does an amazing job of delivering emotional weight along with an ample amount of comedy that comes from, for the most part, Merida’s three younger brothers.

Brave Joins Pixar’s Elite Movies

This is one of my favorite Pixar movies. In my opinion, it is similar in quality with movies such as Toy Story and Wall-E. It has that perfect Pixar balance of substance and entertainment. The addition of the 3D version of the movie makes this combo pack all the greater. The 3D effect is impeccable and adds to the enjoyment of the movie without distracting from it. In addition to the 3D Blu-ray disc the 5-Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Brave also includes Blu-ray discs containing the 2D version of the movie and extra special features, as well as the DVD and digital versions of the movie.

The special features included in this pack include the amazing Pixar short “La Luna” and a brand new short “The Legend of Mor’du.” These really are must see shorts. In addition to the shorts there are many interesting films about the making of Brave and how they used historical accounts and artifacts to make this film more accurate.

All-in-all, this is an amazing package with so many extras it will take you many nights to get through them all. Another winner from the Pixar studios. Keep up the amazing work!
