#GivingTuesday Twitter PartyI’ve been blessed and I try to pay-it-forward by giving to charities that do good work. My husband and I have given 35 loans through Kiva.org (you can see our portfolio here) since 2007. We love the organization and what it does and yes, we’ve had a few who haven’t paid us back because of extreme hardship, but the amount is so minuscule, that it’s not deterred us in the slightest. It’s a great way to feel really in touch with the person you’re supporting and I highly recommend it. Giving starts at $25 and is nearly always paid back for you to loan again or withdraw.

We taught our kids to share their abundance and I couldn’t have been prouder than when my oldest son told us a few years ago that he was sponsoring a child in Africa. He makes a meager salary, but he understands that he’s blessed as well, and so he shares.

The #GivingTuesday charitable initiative has brought together over 400 partners including the United Nations Foundation, Mashable, the 92nd Street Y, Kiva, Groupon, the American Red Cross, Unilever, and Microsoft and I couldn’t be happier to be helping them as a Social Media Ambassador. I can’t physically do much, but I can certainly share my voice for such a good cause.

Join me for the first #GivingTuesday Twitter Party next Thursday to chat the upcoming event happening 11/27/12. I hope you’ll consider spending the hour with us and as an incentive, we’ll be giving away five $25 gift cards, to get your giving started.
