Usually when you buy a cookbook you have to choose between an electronic version and a traditional print book. I generally choose a printed book because they’re more versatile, can be loaned, and I like to write in the margins.
Still, I miss some of the features an electronic cookbook version offers. Many have additional videos and links that you just can’t get in a physical cookbook. That is until now!
I recently received a new kind of cookbook which gives me the convenience of a traditional print cookbook with an easy way to connect to online tools, videos, and more. The cookbook, MyRecipes America’s Favorite Food, is a great mix of recipes from the phenomenally popular MyRecipes.com website. The recipes were developed and photographed by some of the most popular brands available including some of my favorites: Cooking Light, Sunset, All You, Southern Living, Real Simple, Oxmoor House, Health, and Coastal Living.
The online connection feature is accessed through an easy-to-download and free app for your mobile device. Locate and download the app and once opened, simply hold your mobile device over one of the designated pages to open up the additional content.
Content includes how-to videos, customizable recipes and menus plans, and shopping lists. They’ve also included ratings, comments, and recipe suggestions found posted on the recipes at MyRecipes.com, so it feels very much like a community.
The recipes are easy to use, have fabulous full-color photos, and wonderful explanations and directions. Every cooking method from grilling to slow-cooking in a crock pot is included.
This is a fabulous book to give to any cook who loves the technology of today combined with a print edition that can be poured over and enjoyed while unplugged. It gets bonus points for including photographs of every recipe. This is a must-buy book.
