It’s September and here in Washington the apples are in season. That means there are plenty to be had for all your favorite recipes. I love to wash, peel, slice and core them, then toss them in a bath of citric acid and water to keep them from turning brown and freeze them to use later.
Here are 12 great apple dessert recipes I found while blog hopping to help you use up the fall apple harvest. Do yourself a favor and purchase and apple peeler/slicer/corer. They’re worth every penny. Read the reviews and pick the best one you can afford. Mine is all metal which means if it’s not put away clean and dry it can rust, but it’ll last my lifetime. I’m not sure the plastic models can say the same. Kids LOVE to help with turning the crank.

Great ideas to add to my preschool theme week on apples. My students already do an apple taste test and graph which color apple they like best. We also make homemade applesauce, too http://www.brennaphillips.com/no-cook-applesauce Fat-free, preservative-free.
They make mini apple pies, too http://www.brennaphillips.com/mini-apple-pies They taste good but aren’t very appealing to the eye, haha, But after all, it is more about the process than the product.
The cheesecake would be my favorite.
